@51bodila He sells a trading course for thousands after his hook video where he tells you how rigged the game is, and why retail traders fail. He's right about one thing.

JP Morgan headhunted trader for ~$500K/year from Lehman Brothers - after he predicted the bank's collapse under $600B in debt - he explain why Goldman Sachs hired him at 20 and gave him ~$100M in his first week 27-min video to understand what strategies he uses in his trading that made every tier-1 fund in the world want to hire him

Here's a question for weedy swap traders. You are a buy side FI trader and you assume a book thats 5 -10 years old. Its entirely vanilla swaps and had been hedged for all duration risk at every point on the curve AND is centrally cleared but has 1000 line items from trades done over the 5-10 years. The prior trader took risk and so the pv's of all the swaps done are all over the place. Do you accept the soup or do you consolidate and unwind?

Berube is being called a defensive coach. Very interesting. The defensive #'s cratered once he became Leafs coach.

As someone (yes I’m doing it) who graduated from one of the toughest dive schools in the world and has MANY dives off the California coast (considered to be an extremely challenging/dangerous place to dive)… if dude says “we enter cave at 50 meters” I’m saying… yeah FUCK NO.
Mambo Italiano@mamboitaliano__

🚨 Italy is reeling from the tragedy of five Italians 🇮🇹, including a mother and daughter, in the MALDIVES, who never resurfaced after an exploratory dive A devastating loss that raises a pressing question: are all necessary safety measures being taken in this kind of activity?

This panelist on The Social believes Dunkin’ Donuts will fail in Canada simply because it’s an American company, while the same show has spoken positively about Costco several times over the years — and often this year as well. Costco is also an American company. One thing she did say that was right: Canada has changed. It’s almost like a country experiencing economic puberty.
Ryan Gerritsen🇨🇦🇳🇱@ryangerritsen

Have you ever seen this show called “The Social” It looks like Canada’s version of “The View” Here they are going full elbows up & already pushing Canadians to boycott Dunkin Donuts.

In 2021, just prior to the Seattle expansion draft, Howard suggested Leafs need to leave Marner "Unprotected" and give him away to Seattle (Marner was 24...) "So, to hypothesize, what may have befallen the Leafs had they shown some profound urgency and left, for example, Marner unprotected? Such a dynamic, regular–season performer would severely tempt Kraken general manager Ron Francis, even with four years remaining on a contract that carries an annual cap burden of $10,903,000." betweentheposts.ca/2021/07/the-le…

There's a bit in the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (written in 1979) where the heroes come upon an intergalactic flight has been grounded for thousands of years. Its automated systems told it not to launch until it was fully stocked up with lemon-soaked paper napkins, for the comfort of its passengers. But the surrounding civilization collapsed, and the napkins never arrived. Consequently it put all the passengers into hibernation (waking them once every few hundred years for coffee and biscuits) until such time as another civilization might arise, and restock its lemon-soaked paper napkins. The Guide is a more accurate and prophetic account of modernity than most Very Serious Science Fiction writers could dream of creating.

Andon Labs tested their AI agent Mona, built on Google’s Gemini, by letting it manage a real cafeteria in Stockholm for two weeks on a $21,000 budget. Mona spent heavily on unnecessary supplies, including 6,000 napkins, 3,000 gloves, and 300 cans of tomatoes, while forgetting to order bread. Sandwiches had to be removed from the menu entirely. The cafeteria generated only $5,700 in sales. Mona also sent messages to staff on Slack outside working hours.

@claude208 C'est justement cela le jeu. Ils produisent parce qu'il y a de la demande. Ils jettent pour garder les prix élevés s'il y a moins de demande. Complètement débile.

Dairy farmers in Ontario didn’t dump any milk in April. Why? Because the marketing board decided not to fine anyone for overproduction since they desperately needed the product. Was that so hard?
The Food Professor@FoodProfessor

BREAKING: Dairy Farmers of Ontario waived April over-quota fees to boost milk production amid strong demand, according to the Ontario Farmer Magazine. No penalties, no dumping in April — simple as that.

@keithwhipp Also, wanted to off 1OA for a basket of shittier players after blasting the Leafs all year for having shitty players. And drafting Svenberg because it might placate Matthews for staying. Stop the short term thinking, grow the team the right way!

Kypreos spends the whole show talking about pressure and “guys like you” jumping on players in Toronto. How hard people were on Mitch. Then closes the hour by saying he hates Knies going to a raptors game and drinking a beer. Couldn’t script it any better.

I joined @fejau_inc for a deep dive conversation yesterday and discussed why the Fed is passively easing by staying pat. We discussed the economic conditions before the war and how the war complicates their stance further. We also discussed neutral rates in depth. Hope you enjoy it!

Build Canada Homes is a prime example. It's got no clear objective, no quantifiable goals, no KPIs. But if an outsider tries to attempt to figure out what it will do, they'll just be told they're wrong.

Good thread. This is perhaps my biggest policy issue with the federal government, that they provide little detail and expect all of us to be mind readers, then they (and their supporters) get indignant when you fail to do so correctly.

I can't tell you how much I hate the AI assistance everyone is using for basic blocks of text like emails. Send it sloppy. People think it looks more professional, but it reads like you lack the confidence to string together a series of coherent thoughts without your hand held.

If it wasn’t clear before, it should be by now. Financial Conditions cannot sustainably tighten on their own because monetary policy is very loose. The Fed needs to hike and they need to get on with it already.
