@viersys i ask this out of genuine curiosity do you consider acting rationally / holding beliefs with a rational foundation to be very important to you i swear i am not asking this as a dunk im more trying to learn about the variability and interactions between different autistic traits

the autism makes it hard to make friends because i truly am disinterested in most things people have to say unless it exactly applies or appeals to me in some way and it's terrible because i know only talking about myself & my own interests seems very rude but i just can't care.

I want to choose who I'm traveling with, rather than going for luck of the draw. I want to be able to control my own climate while traveling. I want to be guaranteed a comfortable seat. I want somewhere to keep my things during a day out instead of having to carry everything with me. I want to buy and take home loads of groceries too big to carry without having to trouble myself with delivery services. I want to go through drive thrus. I want to be halfway home from work and impulsively decide to go to a restaurant on the other side of town and just change direction immediately. I want to drive around a new city to take in more than I could on foot or on a fixed route. I want to do road trips where we make up our journey as we go. I want to explore my own city at will without any particular plan. I want to visit small towns out of reach of even the most expansive proposed public transit systems. Essentially, I want freedom.

@PeterMoskos They are almost literally never used based on generous usage amounts from the reports both they and you provided. The math is simple. Drivers have to be inconvenienced by self righteous people who almost literally never use the CitiBike alternative.

This is terrible rationalization. Betting is based on odds, not "knowing the future." If the odds are 99% in your favor, and you know it, you're placing the bet and with a whole bunch more money than you would if the odds were 50-50, for example. And where would your rationalization be if a similar solider was to bet against his capture and take action to ensure the outcome?

What was his crime? Placing a bet? He didn't know the future. His helicopter could have gone down and the mission could have gone tits-up. Free this American hero.
