I'm gonna make this real simple for the people that need it. Because I'm seeing a WHOLE lot of cope and misinformation.
Karmelo Anthony is in prison because he just couldn't get up and walk away, and also because there was overwhelming evidence that he did it.
He was not surrounded by anybody until after the incident had occurred. They have the actual weapon he used. He was in an area he wasn't supposed to be in. There's overwhelming evidence now. We've all seen it.
Also, you cannot just stick somebody because they ask you to leave and shove you. You simply can't.
That's why he was found GUILTY.
Now, I know that might be a hard pill to swallow, but swallow it you must certainly will, because a jury of 12 people saw it, and made the call.
I don't think it was enough time to be honest, especially with some of the reactions I have seen. There's some real vile and hateful folks out there. But at least there's some kind of justice for a senseless tragedy.

The Collin County judge presiding over the Karmelo Anthony trial has released key evidence to the public for the first time. This includes photos of the knife, video footage of the moment Anthony stabbed Austin Metcalf, and bodycam video of Anthony admitting to the mu*der.
In the bodycam footage, Anthony states:
“No, I’m not — I’m not alleged. I did it.”
He also said:
“He put his hands on me. I told him not to. He put his hands on me.”
Audio of the 911 calls to police have also been made public:
CALLER: “I’m at the David Kuykendall Stadium. My friend just got stabbed.”
911 DISPATCHER: “Ok, do you know who stabbed him?”
CALLER: “Um, we have no clue. They were sitting in our tent, but you need to send an ambulance right now.”
911 DISPATCHER: “They're on their way, ok? Give me a description of the man who stabbed him.”
CALLER: “He was wearing a gray Essential hoodie.”

Here’s what I can’t wrap my head around.
People keep telling me this was self-defense, but the timeline doesn’t fit.
If Karmelo Anthony was truly trapped and had no way to leave, then how did he suddenly manage to leave right after Austin Metcalf was stabbed?
That’s the question nobody seems willing to answer. According to the testimony, he was told repeatedly to leave that tent. He stayed. A confrontation followed.
Then Austin was stabbed, and only then did Karmelo leave. So if there was a path out after the stabbing, why wasn’t there a path out before it? (You see him run off after the fact).
The doorway didn’t move.
The tent didn’t change.
The only thing that changed was that Austin was lying on the ground with a fatal wound. That’s why the self-defense claim doesn’t make sense to me.
Walking away became possible only after the irreversible decision had already been made? I don’t buy that.
That’s one of the reasons the jury rejected self-defense after hearing all the testimony and reviewing the evidence.
It’s a heartbreaking case because two families were shattered that day, but I can’t ignore the simple question that keeps coming back to me: if you could leave afterward, why didn’t you leave before?
Look for yourself.

These are my notes from the courtroom. I could barely write because I could not see through my tears. The Metcalf family was shaking and sobbing. I was shocked that the bodycam footage was shown while Austin’s family was in the room. It was traumatic. It was haunting.
The Anthony supporter’s did not shed a tear. Stone faced.
Hunter’s screams, along with the coach yelling, “Stay with me, Austin! Stay with me!” on the 911 call, will forever linger in my mind.
“Then it began to rain heavily. And in that moment, I knew Austin was gone.”
