True. In the same vein though everybody was told that full self driving would be solved and available to all in like 2019 and it's still not lol so really hw4 people are still waiting too. It's a better path to solve it completely first then get it to everybody. What if they find out it actually requires hw5 to get over the final hurdle for owners' cars to be fully autonomous, but they already spent billions to upgrade hw3 people to hw4?

@camstar915 @shawncarelli @Tesla_AI @elonmusk The difference is that they (we) were offered hardware upgrades also. So telling us that we can't run this stuff because of our hardware when we were promised upgrades is the annoyance.

@SawyerMerritt This might just be an easier way to get phone content to the Tesla screen for use when full self driving

Here's the thing, I much prefer Tesla's native software over Apple CarPlay, but if having CarPlay helps convince some people to buy a Tesla, then I'm all for it. At the end of the day, using CarPlay would be optional. You wouldn't have to use it. Some people just really want it.

@ColinSpenc4257 I've had the exact opposite experience with some rare exceptions It's more noteworthy when your claim is true which may be why you disproportionately remember those experiences

People ask why I push back so hard on Donald Trump. It's simple: Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

@mattshumer_ Feels like it will be a combination of streaming and static Ai bots within apps will have streaming UI, but like you're saying, a new UI every time would be brutal. Users don't want to talk or type to an ai model to get things that were one click away before.

In 5 to 7 years, UIs will be generated/streamed from the cloud, pixel-by-pixel. Phones/etc. will literally just be useless bricks with screens, speakers, and input. That said, UIs won't be as dynamic as people expect. Imagine a new UI each time... that'd be so hard to use!

We should be thinking about universal child care the same way we think about roads and highways: as basic public infrastructure. Investing in universal child care is good for our kids’ development and good for our economy.

@BenjaminDEKR Hotels should keep the front desk staff and also automate check-in. A human concierge/host/guide/whatever who welcomes people and helps with problems, and that I can also politely ignore while checking myself in at 2am sounds much better

What is the point of hotel check-in desk people anymore? Why isn't this 100% automated? Verify your ID, pay, get entry code. Why are humans still doing this?

Have you considered the companies these people have been able to build because of their access $1B+ of capital? Think of all of the great things companies have built. Think of all of the great things government has built. One list is better than the other. If you want to focus on taxes, how much income tax have all of these new companies generated from paying their talented employees high salaries? How much sales tax have they generated from selling their products/services? Or the taxes on all of the corporate profits? Or the taxes on the everyday spending of the hundreds of thousands of well paid employees? Or the capital gains taxes of the investments or stock options of these employees? Imagine how many companies can be started now due to SpaceX's massive reduction in the cost of access to space that weren't feasible before. SpaceX would not exist in the world of 100% tax. Think about all the taxes you will get from all of these new companies that could never be started without SpaceX which is just one example. 100% tax plan would effectively limit the greatest builders of all human history to one big success, but no more.

@NarutoNolimits I'd feel significantly less cared about after hearing this. Trying this hard to convince everybody that you care usually argues for the opposite I'd prefer a boss that spends all that effort working to improve our company (and one that doesn't lie to try to sound good)

@mcuban In 10 years humanoids will be everywhere. I can imagine new homes being built with different layouts, but there's no way that means humanoids won't last. Homes will be built further away from cities where land is plentiful, so living space will already be higher

No. I’m saying in 10 years , this is how new houses will be built. Less acreage. Less internal square footage. More actual human living space. Far easier to maintain and lower maintenance costs. Less cost to build. That’s why we will go in this direction.
David Mavis@DavidMavis11

@tbpn @mcuban There will be a few homes built that way, but the existing housing stock still has to be serviced, He is pretending we would somehow remodel 100 million dwellings instead of using a robot that can function in those existing buildings

.@mcuban worries about the potential for "adversarial graffiti" in a future when more cars are self-driving: "There’s somebody somewhere trying to figure out how to mess up self-driving mode. Because it’s just taking video input." "It could be some pattern, and then all of a sudden, you’re seeing this pattern on medians or overlaid on stop signs." "You know someone's [going] to do that because it's just too easy not to."

@mcuban @missasign @adcock_brett @tbpn Surgery is an incredibly specialized task. Humanoids are for generalized tasks. What does a "pick up this cup and move it over there" robot look like? 200 ton Caterpillar rock hauling vehicles exist, so do sedans, which are there more of?

.@mcuban says humanoid robots won't last more than 5-10 years. Instead, we'll "design the house to fit the robot, and design the robot to fit the house." "You could create a house where the pantry, the refrigerator, and the washing machines were hidden behind the garage, if you even have a garage. That way you could redesign the house so that all the living space was for people."

@tbpn @mcuban 🤦 Redesign every building on Earth? Then build a new special robot that works really well with these new designs that doesn't exist yet?.. In 5-10 years? 🤣 Why make self-driving cars? We should rebuild everything and shoot people across town in giant hamster tubes
