the applause on the record is machine-made. yours will be man-made, if you're a man. if you're a machine, it's your song, either way.

@EBL2017 Yes, and I think maybe it’s why he goes from mid-table club to mid-table club — once the team is good enough for opposition to set up in low blocks, the system doesn’t work anymore

@KlonnyPin_Gosch @AnfieldEdition and yet Pep is the manager who has spoken out the most about Gaza?
English

I am actually considering just calling it on my time with this bread and circuses ass shit. I’ve been feeling like it runs counter to my ideological principles to even care about this Zio•nist-bought league anyways. I should be boycotting it but I tune in despite myself because I fell in love with Arsenal via family. The game is completely corporatized and corrupt. Even Liverpool, which has the most “leftist” fanbase and players like Salah who I respect who speak out against the genocide, is owned by Trump-loving American billionaires. 4 consecutive 2nd place finishes is just cruel and unusual punishment psychologically and emotionally. I won’t support another team, but if Arsenal bottle from here or it gets handed to Pep as his picture perfect goodbye, I’m done. We live in a world where genocides are a yearly occurrence and the capitalist class continues to extract more wealth and make all of our lives worse. Why the fuck should I even care about the UAE’s Premier Farmers League of 115 Charges and put myself through this year in and out? Why should I give them my money or attention span and ad revenue? Especially when there’s been such flagrant disregard for the rules, for fairness and sportsmanship, there’s a fucking Mancunian ref cartel that ensured City would win for a couple years, Klopp got fucked over (who I will always respect), match fixing is a thing, it’s all just sponsorship revenue and a gateway drug to gambling, etc etc.
If the clubs were worker and community owned like back in the day, I could stay the course, but I already feel like shit for caring as is even when Arsenal are on top (you don’t need to remind me about the kit man getting fired or Thomas Partey, I know it all). There’s no completely clean club in England, at least that has any shot of challenging for titles, and so I think I will call it if they bottle from here and just stop caring about the club-side and wasting my free time, which could be better spent elsewhere.
Sorry for the novel, but it is painful, yeah. I can’t keep getting depressed over this shit.

@amadoit__ wow dude. waking up some core memories with that one. what a game!

For me, Yamal & Cherki are the best players in the world.
Elegance, deception, empathy, transgression, surprise, trickery, mischief, humour, collaboration, flamboyance, authentic self-expression.
Individuals showing us qualities that can be scaled to revive collective attacking.

@GoodWillsmith It’s actually hard to comprehend that he made ~5 albums worth of material at least (!) as good as SotT during that period. truly “turn on the tap” kind of shit. and that you can just listen to it all now… whew

@billevansfan251 @jacobjbg It looks cool! I see that it’s more impressionistic than straight criticism
English

@canofcorn66 @jacobjbg I haven’t read any of his essays I just got the book in a bookstore and really liked it.
English

@billevansfan251 @jacobjbg Dyer’s a great writer but after I read an essay of his deriding late Coltrane, I’m not sure I can exactly trust his opinions about jazz
English

@alicealeph0 @Daheixiong24 people also thought Paul Simon was cool so… people are stupid, I guess
English

@Daheixiong24 yeah i said this too. i'm not a hater! i'm just saying ezra k. being the paragon of cool for a gen was a little much.
alice alice@alicealeph0
killer songs tho. graceland is great
English

@alicealeph0 @alexcfields Rock Bottom is well known enough, but Shleep is definitely under known and underrated imo
English

@alexcfields i have no idea actually. i thought it and shleep were renowned classics but my perspective was skewed by music tumblr

@DeadsoundApp @wobbyist @celinedionysus_ Let’s make it three for three: “Spider and I” is one of the very best Eno songs period and an incredible album closer.
English

@wobbyist @celinedionysus_ Good one. Actually, if "On Some Faraway Beach" had been put last on "Warm Jets," that might legit be my pick.
English

@LewistheLight1 @jacobjbg For my money, the best are the ones between Miroslav and Jaco (including Sweetnighter and Black Market, which the are both partially on, respectively). I used to be a WR hater too but I love em now! Zaw taking over the band “ruined” it imo but Dialects rules so 🤷♂️
English

@jacobjbg Also think he ruined weather report. Don’t like any of the albums he is on but like a bunch of of others
English

@jacobjbg Oh I guess it was just Young Man Blues on Live at Leeds - I thought one of the other covers was his too. But like the Yardbirds and someone else also did covers?
English

@jacobjbg I think it’s bad but more or less harmless. don’t get me started on the duke ellington shit on big mouth though…
English

@CPFCHQ And we don’t even counter attack any more! We win the ball in good positions and pass back to the keeper or the back line instead of driving forward immediately
English

We have too much structure! Players don't move into space, they stay where they play so it's a lot of sideways passes, exacerbated by playing a back 3 who pass sideways!
Canvot at least tries to play forward, I guess, to Mitchell who plays backwards or can't cross!

Glasner on Crystal Palace scoring 14 goals from 15 matches at home so far this season: "We are not the biggest goalscoring machine in the Premier League. It is an issue, we know. To me it feels [we are] a little bit nervous. We are taking bad decisions and losing our structure."
English

@Jonseyboy @paddypower how about: Munoz sportingly kicks the ball out of play bc Tel gets his foot stepped on, then Spurs don’t give the ball back, then Spurs fans boo Munoz after he breaks his collarbone
English

@paddypower Can I ask what warrants the spurs hate?
I mean it is hate. It’s beyond banter.
