@cardio_walk

Pedestrians deserve safe sidewalks. I demand it. Plus walking to work means I reduce GoK's NCD budget burden. What's up with the whole NMT Plan anyways? 👀

@Alfayaz11 @GibNabson A major problem is Kenyans don't understand exactly how much money 1 billion is. If artists created sculptures of billions lost in each scandal, we'd be stunned! We can demand daily publishing of expenditure online - where exactly are our taxes going?

@jkobuthi @AdhiamboKE E.g by compelling each GoK department to publish DAILY accounts online: - money IN - money OUT, as per relevant Q1-Q4 budget lines in the budget cycle Potential outcomes: - taxes directly linked to quality services - wider oversight - earning public trust

Our financial architecture (Treasury, CBK, and KRA) and other attendant financial institutions, needs to be democratised. They are stuck in the colonial era.

@TonyphilipW @mgmainam @sholard_mancity - daily records exist & purpose of publication would specifically be earning our trust - Ecitizen platform exists: no need for another, or additional costs - we have the right to taxes being used for quality services - Transparency is whatever we demand it is, to curb corruption

Diana Gichengo on KTN says Kenya is now losing Sh3 BILLION every single day to corruption and wastage. Under Uhuru, the figure was estimated at Sh2 billion a day. Do the math. Sh3 billion × 365 days = Sh1.095 TRILLION a year. Now look at Kenya’s budget deficit, its approximately about that number. That’s the same money government goes out to borrow. Meaning? Kenyans are being taxed, squeezed and buried in debt, so a few people can loot comfortably. We really jumped from the frying pan in the 2022 elections.

Nyakundi Report
Nyakundi Report@NyakundiReport·
Hello Nyakundi, Please hide my identity. I am a staff member at Artcaffé, and we are really suffering under the current management conditions at the branch. First, last week our PHs, off days, and leave days were deducted simply because of the matatu strike, something that was completely beyond our control as employees. It is unfair for management to punish staff for a nationwide transport crisis that affected everyone. Secondly, the transport situation for staff working late shifts is becoming dangerous. Imagine the staff van arriving at the branch around 1:40 AM, then dropping employees along the highway at around 2 AM and leaving everyone to figure out how to get home safely on their own. This is not secure at all, especially for staff members going home at such hours. The worst issue is the “FUNGA FUNGUA” shifts. Right now it is around 3 AM and I have just come from the PM shift, yet I am expected to wake up again at 4 AM to prepare and report back to work. We barely get any sleep. You enter the next shift already exhausted and sleepy, which is extremely risky especially in a busy restaurant environment where mistakes and accidents can easily happen because of fatigue. We are mentally and physically drained. Some of us cannot even sleep properly because by the time you reach home, it is already time to prepare for the next shift again. This is not healthy and it is affecting staff wellbeing badly. Another major issue is staff meals. There is no proper breakfast and sometimes no lunch at all, yet employees are expected to work long exhausting hours. Nobody seems concerned about staff welfare anymore. Please let this reach HR because workers are really suffering. We are asking management to listen to staff concerns and improve these working conditions before things get worse.

@mgmainam @sholard_mancity Corruption isn’t a thermometer you shake down every election, it’s a cancer every regime inherits. The difference? This administration is cutting into the tumour while the last one perfumed it. You call it pointing out, I call it selective amnesia dressed as neutrality.

@sholard_mancity So how do we know that it's a fact we lose 1b, or 2b, or 5b maybe per day to corruption? And who benefits from corruption? In my village, people adore those who pay /corrupt for their children to be military, police, kra or any GOK/ COUNTY job. In street speak they are smart, no?

@_Real456s @SpiceFMKE @nduokoh @dennisaseto @EverlyneMungai What matters more is that the class action lawsuit is on the record. And that it gains public support because: - everyone is affected by corruption - the constitution enshrines transparency When dealing with bullies, standing up matters & legal recourse sets a precedent.

I keep saying this, we do not lack the brains, knowledge, ability, or human resource to fix many of our broken systems. In fact, we are abundantly blessed with all of these. We are also not a poor country, as I have said before, we are simply a mismanaged one. Our biggest problems for decades, and ones that seem to worsen with each passing year, are nepotism, endless politicking, lack of genuine will, and above all, the cancer of corruption. I will never stop saying this. We are blessed with one of the most beautiful countries in the world and some of the most resilient and remarkable people. We have every opportunity to be the very best on this continent and to stand proudly among the best in the world. It is what it is. #ReclaimNairobi

On the preposterous Singapore mirage, the numbers don't lie. Try and make sense of this insanity: 48% of our budget in 2026-2027 is dedicated to the past. To debt service. Not where we are going. 48% of the entire budget is thrown in to the wind. Won't create ONE job. Won't save ONE life. Won't fund cancer research. Won't feed ONE child. It is quite literally the price of greed, corruption, and stupidity in abundance. Our healthcare budget is KSH 202 billion. Our education budget is KSH 767 billion. But, our debt service is KSH 2.3 trillion. Our debt service is 11 times our healthcare budget. And, 3 times our education budget. Our government wants us to believe that it will earn KSH 3.6 trillion - even though it has never earned KSH 3.0 trillion, ever! The reality is that, we will spend KSH 4.8 trillion, earn around KSH 2.7 trillion, and add about KSH 2.0 trillion to our current debt, when it is all said and done. In the government's proposed Finance Bill for 2026 - the average citizen faces really gruesome new taxes. Such as 25% tax on phones. Taxes on mobile money transactions. This is a bull's eye target on every breathing Kenyan. Why? Because, where else will money to maintain this gravy-train come from? You know, it would really be uncalled for and uncivilized to touch politicians' compensation. Just look at the peanuts we pay politicians (attached), and then text or call every one of them, and tell them you are sorry for even thinking about calling for a pay cut for them. How would they be able to eat? @Senate_KE @NAssemblyKE @FlavNasmbu @MoGAbdi

What This Means for Public Finance Accountability: • The Constitution Overrides Secrecy: The government cannot hide behind the Official Secrets Act to deny citizens access to public information. Non disclosure clauses in contracts with foreign governments or lenders do not override your constitutional right to information. • The burden of proof lies entirely with the STATE (not the citizen) to justify withholding public data. • Information is Not a Bureaucratic Favor: Citizens do not need to prove a "beneficial interest" or explain WHY they want information. Access is the absolute rule; secrecy is the exception. Delivered on May 15, 2026, by Hon.Justices Murgor, Laibuta, and Ngenye-Macharia, this is a monumental victory for every Kenyan demanding to know how public debt is structured, who benefits, and where our tax money goes.

🚨Court of Appeal Forces Open the SGR Black Box: A Major Win for Debt Transparency in Kenya The Court of Appeal in Mombasa has dealt a definitive blow to state secrecy. The appellate bench dismissed the Attorney General’s appeal, upholding a landmark High Court verdict that legally commands the government to immediately disclose hidden contracts related to the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR). The petition, relentlessly pursued by human rights defenders Khelef Khalifa and Wanjiru Gikonyo alongside Katiba Institute and the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), demanded full public access to SGR agreements, loan contracts, feasibility studies, and operational frameworks.

Whoever takes the reins in 2027 post-Lil Wantam, their first item on the agenda should be to review MPs' salaries DOWNWARDS. We can't be having lawmakers who are increasingly becoming lapdogs of the Executive while busy driving around in fuel guzzlers.
