Sam Darnold is a good reminder that failing early doesn't mean you don't have it. It just means you had to figure it out the hard way. Top-3 pick. Huge expectations. Then years of complete chaos. Different coaches, different systems, constant need to prove himself, no real chance to develop normally. A few things worth noting: • Environment matters more than we think. Darnold didn't magically improve in Seattle, they just gave him stability: Coaches who stuck around, a system built for his strengths, teammates he could trust. • Growth can look like simplification. He's talked about this season being less about doing everything and more about stopping the urge to force it. • The NFL gives up on young QBs way too fast. Everyone loves the shiny new thing until it doesn't work immediately. His whole point: the early struggles are what taught him how to keep getting better.
