As a health lawyer it is easy to hyper focus on HHS, but FTC, FCC etc. all have roles to play in regulating health. @CohenProf, @eadashi and I analyze the FTC's involvement in protecting health data.

In their new Forefront article, @CarmelShachar, @CohenProf, @eadashi from @HarvardCHLPI + @PetrieFlom discuss how regulatory rules only have impact if the entities they regulate perceive them as “having teeth.” bit.ly/45vpYRC

A huge thank you for everyone tweeting (and emailing and texting and saying) such lovely things. The @PetrieFlom team has been such a joy and I feel honored to have six years of being @CohenProf co-pilot.

This week is @CarmelShachar's last as Executive Director of @PetrieFlom. Luckily she isn't going far (@HarvardCHLPI), but we'll miss her all the same! Please join us in thanking her for six years of leadership and service 👏 💐

My undergraduate thesis was comparing bioethical and traditional jewish positions on abortion, to remind readers that not all religious traditions are anti-abortion. Good to see it reflected in practice. nytimes.com/2023/06/28/hea…

“This technology is rapidly improving at a time health care needs help,” said @landmaad It is easy to think of the worst case scenarios for medical AI but important to remember that it can help ease the pressures of an overburdened system. nytimes.com/2023/06/26/tec…

"75 of 117 Idaho OB-GYNs recently surveyed by the Idaho Coalition for Safe Reproductive Health Care said they were considering leaving the state. Of those, nearly 100% — 73 of 75 — cited Idaho’s restrictive abortion laws." Those numbers speak for themselves via @kffhealthnews

Physicians shouldn't bear all the liability of biased AI and that could happen if we aren't thoughtful about the application of Section 1557 to clinical algorithms @gerke_sara and I write in @JAMA_current
JAMA@JAMA_current

#Viewpoint: a proposed @HHSGov rule to address discrimination in clinical algorithms and the need for additional considerations to ensure the burden of liability for biased algorithms is not disproportionately placed on health care professionals. ja.ma/3vGw6WM

I feel so lucky to work with the amazing @chloereichel. Such a testament to her that people were eager and willing to attend yet another zoom party to celebrate her "Harvard birthday" (@JoelleGrogan)!
Doron Dorfman@DorfmanDoron

Quickly dropped by this lovely virtual event celebrating the power that is @chloereichel who’s been working @PetrieFlom for 5 years now! Chloe has been doing great service to the health law & disability law communities. We appreciate you and are lucky to know you 😘

I'll leave the labor analysis to my colleagues @LWPHarvard but this article really hammers home 1) the absurdity of not universally considering fertility treatments as health care and 2) of intertwining health care coverage and employment. #_ga=2.175563042.1000938389.1659710566-1068097671.1659214299" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thecut.com/2022/08/amazon…
