A survey of more than 500 autistic people found 80% preferred identity-first language vs 6% for person-first language. 74% opposed functioning labels vs 13% who supported them. Among people opposing functioning labels 86% supported stating the individual needs of each person 👇

@DickieRAnderson Did you read “Saving Normal” by @AllenFrancesMD, an architect of DSM-IV? If not, I would recommend it. At my work I deal with very unwell ppl, & I don’t encounter with healthy ppl who self-diagnose psychological issues & then declare themselves as 'undiagnosed’ #autism or #ADHD.

#ADHD: there is indeed an attention deficit here but it is a lack of attention for children's need for love, play, nourishing peer & carer interactions. The medicalisation of social issues is evident here.

Amazing thing one: I was doing my nursing home gig and met a woman who played at Michigan Women's Music Festival!! She's a resident, at the moment, but healing quickly and going home soon. We talked about TERFery, women's spaces and music. It was a BLAST!

1. Vaccines are the greatest invention in human history
2. Vaccines are safe and effective
3. Most vaccines are safe but some have safety issues
4. After seeing friends get injured, I’m starting to rethink this particular vaccine
5. After seeing family maimed and murdered I’m starting to rethink other vaccines too
6. Vaccines should only be given to those who are “susceptible to illness”
7. All vaccines are toxic
8. Vaccines are eugenics
9. Viruses don’t exist which completely negates the entire premise of vaccines.

The medical community continues to do us all a disservice by labeling such a wide variety of behaviors as autism.
My son has what was historically diagnosed as Asperger’s, when you compare him with a child that’s far more severe, one that’s non-verbal, you’d wonder how any study can be accurate with the two very different children receiving the same diagnosis.

This study suggests that either misdiagnosis is common or that it's possible that the brain can change over time (aka neuroplasticity).
