still obsessed they decided to make the episode posters of the vampire lestat season looking like actual show/tour posters… honestly the meta marketing approach they took remains one of the best things they did for this season

It’s ironic and sad how Loumand started with Armand’s “I like how you withhold” and decades later he ended up literally torturing Louis to get any kind of closure

@cherriestat Actually I take it back! Rewatching this scene it looks very intentional. She looses the vamp eyes to get into Lestat’s good graces and get into the head chair and after Lestat remembers the witches burning scene and her monstrosity her eyes go back to vamp blue reflecting it!

@cherriestat They might have also got lazy with CG 🫣Jen said she really struggled with contacts so they probably had to do lots of digital color correction for her eyes

@cataccount125 Yes! I don't want him and Gabriella to never be explored again but I do want this progress he's gained by acknowledging & calling out her abuse to not be walked back on. And that's true about Lestat's thoughts on his own leadership & how he views that as a failure

#tvlspoilers I'm really curious what actually makes Lestat do the concert after all even after he firmly tells Gabriella no & calls her out. That's a powerful moment, so I want to believe he ultimately does it for his own reasons. That something within him calls to him to do it

@waspinyourear Yes, I also found the line about Lestat "throwing himself on the shore" instead of burying himself interesting. Assad said that initially there was a scene that was cut about Armand chasing after Lestat's carriage. So it is plausible that he did eventually catch up with Lestat.

#tvlspoilers Okay, so I’ve finally gathered my thoughts around past Lesmand in the show, why I think everything points to it happening in S4, and why I have my doubts it will. I’ll post the reasons why I believe it will in here, and the doubts in the reply.

@lestatsplace @cherriestat Also Lestat easily admitting himself a monster for using Antoinette to punish Louis, while this is a tactic borrowed from Gabi’s bag of tricks used on himself. All this bringing him to finally accept her monstrosity and abuse.

Something complicated about Lestat calling both himself and Gabi monsters that I think is in conversation with him coming to terms with her abuse at the witch’s place and how he mimicked it with Claudia and Charlie.

#tvlspoilers Man it’s strange to read days of furious reaction accusing writers of hatred and cruelty, excusing some characters and excoriating others, and then see this finale and find a beautiful treatise on how there is value in every life and something lovable in every soul.

Last night I finally found a relatively clear screen-recorded version of ep7, and I was hyped the entire time, probably bcs the long table scene and the reckoning part are exactly my kind of storytelling. There's this "weirdly eerie yet poetic beauty" to it that I just love. And when Lestat said that he may fail time and time again, but at least it means he's attempting something, I literally cried my eyes out.bcs THAT is the core of his character. No matter how much he's been through, he faces his failures and starts over from the ruins. That's the fundamental reason I love this character. S3 as a whole is over, and of course there were some writing choices I didn't love. S1 and S2 I'm not agree with every single writing choice 100% either 😂But honestly,that's fine🤷‍♀️I feel like the writers knew what they were doing, they made those changes fully aware that some people would love them and some wouldn't. But overall my viewing experience was very joyful. And I think the biggest appeal and value of this series for me is that it sparks so much thinking and exploration. like little details, cultural contexts, all of it. It gives me so much material to dig into. You can scroll back and see how many mini-essays I wrote before and during the season. For any other shows is rlly impossible. In an era dominated by big data and formulaic storytelling, there's barely anything that makes me want to analyze or research anymore. Everything is laid out on the surface, every romance catered to fan expectations. But this show? Its willingness to "offend and disobey" its own fandom, to keep every plot point and development steeped in controversy and uncertainty, that's actually what drew me to it in the first place. And as for whether Loustat has sex or not? That was never my focus to begin with. As an East Asian viewer, you know what initially drew me to this pairing? I felt like they took something very Western-open relationships, and handled it in a very East Asian, restrained way😂 That yearning, that lingering tenderness, that's what I love most as an East Asian viewer. I never saw this as a sex-show lmaooo so like... what exactly are y'all expecting????🤣🤣🤣 On the emotional front, I also think I understand why they didn't include those scenes this season (I'll write a separate analysis later). But I feel like I need to watch a clear, proper version one or two more times before I fully form my opinions. If I had to sum it up-personally, I really love this season. It feels like a show tailor-made for me. BUT. Before the season started, I actually thought about recommending it to my Asian friends. Then after watching the first episode, I gave up on that idea🤣bcs they are already very used to watch simple and straightforward Korean romantic comedies and Chinese idol dramas🤣with this level of stylization, highly theatrical writing style, plus the themes it tackles, if my friends have zero background knowledge or attachment to this gothic world and its characters, I can already predict they'd be completely lost. So honestly,I think this show was destined from the start: It was never going to be for everyone. and S3 just doubled down on that rebellious, highly artistic stance. With this kind of style, two extreme types of reactions are very very normal. And there's really no need trying to convince each other. we can all continue to love what we love.Honestly,that's what makes this show so interesting in the first place🥹 #tvlspoilers #tvlfailures
