Only Ivereigh and his ilk could view a man who supports abortion on demand, gay marriage, the full trans agenda, and who now says he supports assisted suicide, as “deeply shaped by the Church’s social teaching”. Good grief.

It made me bitter and arrogant. It made me think I had the more ancient, therefore holier, therefore better way to practice my faith. I would make jokes about the “Novus Ordo” and speculate about the day the church might even do away with vernacular liturgy, considering it a failed experiment. I found a lot of security in the (very flawed) idea that “Catholicism is an ancient, unchanging faith. This is the most ancient, unchanging way to live it out.”
