My first book comes out next week with Oxford University Press. From beginning to end, it’s a book that does not exist without @Baylor’s support and resources. It began as a dissertation project while I was a PhD student in history, taking classes and learning from professors in the Tidwell building. I spent thousands of hours in the Baylor libraries, combing through old magazines, analyzing microfilm, reading all the relevant books, and making interlibrary loan requests (shoutout to the awesome librarians). It might seem like a small thing, but playing pickup basketball every week in the rec center was huge for me during those years. After I finished my PhD, I spent a year as a college professor in Pennsylvania. But I returned to work at @TruettSeminary in 2019. There I was able to edit, revise, and reshape things until I turned the dissertation into an actual book. Put simply, institutions matter. I’m grateful for all the people who have made Baylor a unique place where Christian faith and serious research goes together. #SicEm 🐻💛💚

There's the trace of natural law reasoning in Angela Davis' "Women and Capitalism" (amazing for, among other reasons, having been written in prison) where she suggests that the promise of revolution lies in "nature" as revealed in Black women's family life. Super interesting.
