You don't have to though. You can become an Assured Tenant instead, that you can stay forever & rent is only raised by a controlled amount

They can range in length, most I dealt with tended to be 999 years - anything under 80 can start to be problematic.

While looking for rental, I consistently noticed some houses at very cheap sell prices, and then a small print "land lease expires soon". Same in London City. Perhaps the law has changed and now the land owners are forced to sell the land?

Awful lot of people seem to lack a very basic understanding of how tax works judging by some of the comments around marketplaces like Vinted sharing data with HMRC. No, you won’t need to pay tax if you’re selling something for £3 you bought for £30 - but if you’re regularly selling stuff for £30 you bought for £3, you’re going to have a bit of a wake up call.

OK I need to vent. What’s the most annoying thing that someone does every Christmas? And they know it annoys you? Mine is that they wait til exactly the point dinner is ready (ie approx 5 hours after you started preparing it) then they disappear to the loo. Every. Damn. Year.
