It’s full throttle for #plant26 in the Mississippi Delta. If the forecast holds, and without any other major hiccups, this farmer should have nearly 4,000 acres of corn planted by the end of the week.

In the group, three bucks were still carrying antlers. Later that day, I spotted a shed in the same field while spreading dry fertilizer.

Rail freight is getting high. Maybe all the farmers headed to houston could take a load of corn to a port down there? Expensing high priced diesel for a road trip to sweet sixteen? winning.

Fertilizer: Europe quickly gets into the second energy crisis in four years. Gas supply is disappearing to Asia. With corn and wheat prices still low and nitrogen prices exploding you don’t need to be a genius to expect lower applications. So basically: - lower incentive to apply nitrogen fertilizer - lower corn area because of crop rotation - lower corn yield closer or maybe even below trend yield (mean reversion of exceptionally yields last year) - 30% chance of a strong El Nino. That would bring dry/hot weather to Matto Grosso (Brazil) and Australia

🇮🇷🇪🇺 LNG ships that were supposed to go to Europe are suddenly turning around… and heading to Asia. At least 11 tankers have changed course this month. Why? Because supply is tightening fast after the Strait of Hormuz disruption and issues at Qatar’s biggest LNG facility. So buyers are chasing higher prices… and Asia is winning. Even U.S. shipments are being rerouted mid-journey. One ship literally left for Europe and then flipped to Asia halfway through. Why this matters: Europe is losing access to energy in real time. And when supply gets tight, the highest bidder wins… not the closest ally. In today’s market, energy flows to whoever is willing to pay the most, not who needs it most. Source: @MarineTraffic

@TheeGrainLady …wasn’t going to sell any until after the drought scare, $200 oil, or I have to clean out the bins for my new bushels. Ground piles going to be everywhere. Feed demand in the south has dropped off hoping grass takes off.

Just for anyone keeping score, there are two ethanol plants in North Dakota without a summer bid, with one not having ANY old crop bid until September.

@BradyD78 There are a few agronomists around here that said wait 10 days to see if the wheat perks back up. We usually plant our late October so it was just stating to fill the rows.

I don't think most of our wheat was far enough along to get much damage. It looked bad for a while but is really perking up now. That being said, I'm monitoring some low spots and a few fields for damage. I've talked with a few farmers in the area and they don't think much damage was done.

I do not think it is as bad as some are making it. Potash - in place Phosphate - we must have enough because traders are buying barges for export Nh3 - we produce most of what we need Uan - we produce most of what we need Urea - we still need between 1.5 and 2m tons imported april/may/June. Normally that would be easy but we are $70 too cheap vs the world. Could go from fine to effed fast.

@cb_catt @aghedger -$.02 isn’t much of an inversion and my offer wouldn’t be at the money. I was thinking 5k at first overhead resistance 4.97 and another 5k at the second overhead resistance 5.13. Another 5 k at 5.23.

@cb_catt I would classify this as retail. But personally, I have accepted that the funds are part of the gig.
