Despite the declared blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a China-linked tanker under US sanctions for trading Iranian oil exited unhindered. The Rich Starry entered the Gulf of Oman after reaching Iran's Qeshm island on April 13, vanishing from radars until late evening, then passing the strait overnight on April 14, according to Starboard Maritime Intelligence data. It carried 250,000 barrels of methanol from a UAE port, Reuters reports. Bloomberg notes the case tests US resolve against vessels linked to China.
