While polling still shows separatism is a minority view, people who are committed to a united Canada really should not assume that this movement is just a fringe imo, it has legs and given how volatile the world feels right now, a lot can happen.
And especially for eastern Canadian commentators (like myself), I really implore people to not to mockingly or condescendingly dismiss this. Take this seriously.

Let this forever dispel the MAGA-myth that Trump was using tariffs to correct trade deficits with other countries.
This is no different than threatening Macron with tariffs on wine and champagne to compel him to join the so-called “Board of Peace.”
He uses them to coerce, to threaten and to compel nations to do whatever he wants them to do - any fleeting thought or desire that comes to his head is followed by another tariff threat.

@BradWestPoCo Are BC’s sawmills closing because “those people” want them shut down? Or are they closing because industry & government mismanaged the forests for so long? Massive over harvest & disdain for sustainable logging is what caused the problem, not imagined enemies of the state.

Forestry built British Columbia. The NDP has spent eight years dismantling it. The allowable cut has dropped by two thirds. Mills are closing, contractors are idle and families are leaving the communities they built. Eby can shout about tariffs, but he’s been the real barrier to prosperity. Conservatives will fight Trump AND we will fix the cost structure, open access to wood and fight for every forestry job in this province.
