@deepvalueco I looked at it in mid 2024 and didn't like it much, but Divestor (also very smart, his quote below) was a big fan of it at roughly these prices, and so now with Connor that makes two investors whom I respect liking it - where there's this much smoke there's probably fire

@lol_kikko @310Value Hate to see Secure go, particularly at this price, but I guess this is one way of getting back into GFL

@HJB2_0 @StockTalk416 Trying it. I had like 6 accounts at TD that couldn't consolidate for performance, or allocations or even just shares I owned. Could definitely be done with a manual spreadsheet but Portseido has some features I like + I'm lazy

@StockTalk416 Doesn't look like it. I use Portseido for all my public assets, and have a spreadsheet I use for the rest of my finances

@Tdbex22 @CDInewsletter Sorry I never saw this comment - obviously pretty late at this point. I liked TD UI better. It was easier to get quotes, it seemed to load faster, I liked TD's quotes/watchlist feature, and it's research/market overview. That said Questrade is very usable and free, so it wins out

@cdnvaluestocks @CDInewsletter How is the UI on questrade? I’ve also been using TD for way too long. Any downsides you’ve noticed that make you wish you didn’t switch?

After 20+ years with Qtrade, I'm moving to Wealthsimple. QT gave awful service on an account transfer (in), so I'm leaving. I'll get a $10,000+ bonus, far better UI, and tons of other perks. Suggest y'all do the same, especially if you're unhappy with your current broker.

@CDNValueInvestr I have no idea if George Armoyan has done this at other companies he has taken over but it's quite amusing if this is part of what he usually does. Clarke $CKI.TO uses PricewaterhouseCoopers, so I'd expect that is who he'll hire next

I take this as the top indicator you were looking for, but after seeing them discussed by smart folks for years, I finally wrote about and bought Mako Mining $MKO.V and Sailfish Royalties $FISH.V. The link to my write up is in my bio and below

@maxwellhouse99 I'm not sure I'd do it to explicitly increase exposure to O&G, but there are high quality companies that are decently valued that would definitely fit your Canadian dividend growth portfolio - talking my book but $SCR.TO, $PSK.TO, $TOU.TO fit the bill

@scalphunter_ @tsxman To add to what Chris said, this is such a small vehicle and has more or less missed any opportunity to earn significant fees. The goodwill earned from doing right by investors, and salvaging a half decent exit will benefit the franchise more than the minor fees $DRR.U will pay

@tsxman How do you get conviction that Cooper will do the right thing and return capital? My sense is he understands the value of permanent capital and raised all these vehicles knowing there is value to him. Will he really sell and send $ to investors?

$DRR.U / $DRR.UN 🇺🇸 out w/ a 52-wk high today. Up 31% YTD which is best in the #REIT space. Still trading at mid 8% implied cap rate despite recent transactions taking place in lowest 5% range. Currently at a 37% NAV discount as strategic review unfolds. Everything is for sale.

$DRR.U / $DRR.UN Dream Residential 🇺🇸 initiates a strategic review process to correct the persistent NAV gap in trading valuation. I have bene loading this one heavily in the past couple months. Would be nice if they sell it all. Internal NAV $13.39, trading price $6.70.

@finphysnerd In a very bad oil environment, Secure likely wouldn’t thrive, but its cash flows are much more durable and removed from oil prices than an oil field services company

@finphysnerd No problem. The service Secure provides is mostly tied oil production, vs new drilling, and the long lives of the wells Secure’s customers have means production isn’t very tied to oil prices.
