@TheWest_Report Force the insurance companies to stay in their lane. They cover the testing and treatment the physicians decide. Not allow the insurance companies to dictate patient care.

One tiny, scientifically pathetic, and downright fraudulent and retracted paper claiming MMR vaccine is linked to autism. 25 large studies looking at MILLIONS of kids showing no link at all. But sure go ahead and waste millions of dollars of taxpayers money to study it again.

Every professional organization in medicine should denounce the involvement of private equity in healthcare. They should send a clear message to their young physician members that PE is bad for hospitals, private practices, and patients. They won’t do it, but they should.

Just got breakfast with a friend in Santa Monica. It took the waiter 30 minutes to come ask us for our order and he didn't show up once to check in during the meal. I even had to ask a different waiter to ask our waiter to bring us the check because ours was nowhere to be found. When our waiter brings us the check he says, "Here's your check. By the way gratuity is already included!" Stunned, I ask him how much gratuity is added? "20% is included!" he says. This man knew he was going to get 20% regardless of his level of service so decided he didn't have to do anything to earn it. I wasn't paying a tip, I was paying a tax. Then the capitalist in me took over. I requested he remove the 20% because a 20% tip was reserved for great service and that's not what we got. He did so and I updated my tip to 10%. I probably came off as a jerk, but tbh this tipping stuff has gotten out of hand and it's not okay! 😠😠😠

A healthcare rant: husband in ER overnight for hydration and low blood counts cause of chemo. TY EPIC for reams of less-than-useless discharge papers this morning. Here’s what they included: 1/10

Eliminating pre-authorization in health care: an orthopedic surgeon’s perspective The first change I'd advocate for is eliminating pre-authorization, although maintaining oversight is still essential. We recognize that there are bad actors and that mistakes occur, underscoring the need for some form of regulation. However, the relatively new concept of requiring authorization for every step of patient care creates unnecessary barriers. Once a patient is authorized to see me as an orthopedic hand surgeon, I should be trusted to determine their treatment plan. For example, if I decide that a patient needs a plate on their distal radius, I am the most qualified to make that decision—not someone at an insurance desk across the country. This current system undermines the expertise of healthcare professionals and delays critical care. By trusting medical professionals to make these decisions, we can streamline the process, improve patient outcomes, and reduce the administrative burden on both doctors and patients. On this day 82 years ago, on February 19, 1942, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in the height of insanity of racism after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, signed Executive Order 9066. It ordered all Japanese Americans on the West Coast to be summarily rounded up and imprisoned within 10 barbed wire prison camps, with no charges, no trial, no due process. One day, a few months later, we saw two soldiers marching up our driveway, carrying rifles with shiny bayonets on them. They stopped up the porch right in front of our window and banged on the front door. My father answered, and one of the soldiers pointed the rifle at him, right in front of us, and ordered us out of our home. I had just turned five in April; it was May when they came to take us away. My father gave my brother Henry and me two heavy suitcases. And we brought them out onto the driveway and waited for our mother to come out. When she did, she had our baby sister in one arm, a huge duffel bag in the other, and tears were streaming down her cheeks. That is one morning that is seared into my memory. I will never be able to forget all the innocent people, my family included, who had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor, most of who were law abiding U.S. citizens, who were suddenly categorized as ‘enemy aliens.’ Today, I hear terrifying words from political leaders today that once more raise the specter of what happened before, right here in America. Donald Trump and his allies are talking about rounding up 11 million people and putting them into mass detention camps before deporting them. There won’t be time for due process, to sort out who is documented and who is not. Homes will be lost. Businesses, too. Families will be torn apart. Lives will be ruined, over fear and ignorance, all to serve the ambitions and agendas of politicians. I know, because I lived through it. I say, never again. Not while I have one ounce of fight still left in me. Join me. Fight this madness. Help keep America from repeating the mistakes of its past.

Please stop telling people with high blood pressure but no other symptoms that they MUST GO TO THE ER RIGHT NOW. When you give them this urgency, and our recommended practice is to not intervene on patients with good follow-up, we are setting everyone up to be disappointed/upset.
