Just finished reading Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky Was a bit more about spiders than I was anticipating, but has to be one of the best contemporary science fiction novels I’ve read😅 Anyone have any other recommendations for recently written sci-fi (say written in the last 20 years)?

The norm (historically) in San Francisco is usually two weekends of open houses and then offer date But increasingly it’s now truncated to one weekend and then offer date Why? Things are selling so fast that sellers don’t want to lose interested parties who might offer on something else And buyers don’t want to pass up on offering on a place they might win today, versus waiting two weeks to offer on a place they might not win

@MikeIsaac I distinctly remember Uber launching and a big selling point was all-in pricing. It was more expensive than a taxi, but it was easy with the app and no tipping. Maybe this is one of those situations where everyone has the same false memory?

one thing that blew me away talking to uber/delivery drivers was how many customers straight up dont tip at all especially in ride hailing, where people often dont look at the app after the ride crazy to me, as an american at least, where tipping is culturally ingrained

@conorsen @PotomacRC Still too high. Gotta get under 6 (preferably 5 and under). Look at Spring/Summer 2022; that’s when the switch flipped. Rates haven’t even dropped that much from a year ago (50 bips?). If we see Spring 2026 with rates under 6% I would not be surprised at a sharp reversal.

The Fed has cut rates 150bps and the housing market is worse now than it was a year ago.
