Taking in the Magnificent Severn⚡ Members of our executive team visited Severn Power Station on its first day under Centrica ownership - taking a guided tour of the 850MW power station. Seeing the station first‑hand highlighted the scale, capability and expertise behind its day‑to‑day operations and reinforced the important role Severn will play in providing secure, flexible power as the UK’s energy system continues to evolve. 📢 Investing in a stronger more flexible energy system ⚡ Centrica has today announced the acquisition of the 850MW Severn Power Station in Newport, Wales. In a world where energy markets can change quickly, we’re investing in assets that make UK energy more secure, reliable and affordable, today and in the future. As one of the most efficient Combined‑Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) in the UK - Severn provides the flexible, dispatchable power that could power up to 850,000 homes - keeping the system stable as more renewables connect to the grid. Severn is strategically positioned near growing sources of power demand, including data centre developments in South Wales. The acquisition means we now have a generation portfolio of 4GW, including 1 GW of assets currently in planning and construction – enough to power up to 6 million homes. Overcoming challenging ground conditions to deliver a sustainable solar solution ☀️ @CentricaSoln_UK has completed a bespoke solar farm for Derbyshire manufacturer Carpenter Ltd, helping the business take a major step towards a greener future. Built on a 14.6% sloped site, the project demanded careful planning, specialist machinery and adaptive engineering to navigate complex terrain and tough winter conditions. The new solar array includes 1,666 panels, generating 1,025 MWh of renewable electricity each year. That will cut carbon emissions by over 116 tonnes of CO₂ in year one, while reducing energy costs and supporting sustainable manufacturing jobs in the region. Hey @BritishGas I’ve used ONLY your engineers for 5 years. Last week, one found a hole drilled/screwed into my boiler chetty, work only a BG engineer could have done. Now I’m being asked £3,800 for a new boiler because of your mistake? Safety risk marked, but no help. Advice?

From conversation to action 💪🌍 Last week, we were at Anthropy UK, a space to pause, listen and think differently, bringing together voices from business, communities and public life to focus on how change happens in practice. While there, we hosted two sessions exploring what a fair and inclusive transition to net zero looks like in the real world: 🏠 From Awareness to Action: Engaging Households in the Journey to Net Zero - a practical discussion on how we move households from awareness to action, using insight from Hive’s Home Report to explore motivation, fairness and affordability in the journey to net zero. With contributions from Amanda Harrison, Tom Pakenham, Dr Maria Carvalho, Madeleine Gabriel and Adam Scorer. 🤝 Together for Net Zero: Learning from Community Impact, Building What’s Next - a powerful conversation on the pressures facing communities and the role local initiatives, shared spaces and community champions play in building a more resilient, inclusive future.
