@UTDFondree don't forget that Arsenal bought ben white for 50mil 4 or 5 years ago.... And Pepe for 75mil about 8 or 9 yrs ago..... not sure how england internationals (particularly attacking players) would be 60 mil today in that context...

Sometimes I understand why Manchester United refuse to overpay for players who simply aren’t worth the asking price. Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool have helped inflate the transfer market. Tell me, why would Bradley Barcola be valued at €170m when he’s realistically worth around €60-70m? It all stems from clubs paying £100m+ for players like Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers, players who, in my opinion, aren’t even worth £60m. The transfer market has become absolutely ridiculous.🤯😭
Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

🚨 BREAKING: PSG value Bradley Barcola at €170m and are using the transfers of Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson as valuation yardsticks. The number factors in that Barcola is a back-to-back Champions League winner, had a strong World Cup and is only 23. Plus, multiple clubs have made enquiries. PSG are prepared to sell, though, and Liverpool will hope to get the price down. Luis Enrique has been clear that he only wants players committed to PSG, and that he won't guarantee anyone a starting spot.

@GunnerPuls Chelsea of course, but that trophy is now called the Fifa Intercontinental cup now, Not the Club world cup, which of course Chelsea has won that also....and is the only club in the universe to do so....

@husseinkhalifkk you can say that about previous windows, but this time its different... signing players with more PL experience, and who are physically stronger... Also we have a Manager now, not a coach, so he's more involved in the signings... ownership finally realising their mistakes...

They’ve spent over £300m and the transfer window isn’t even shut yet. We play them on the opening day of the Premier League, and I still don’t see them beating us. Chelsea have spent well over a billion in the last couple of years and still ended up finishing 10th. Spending money means nothing if you’re not bringing in the right players. Quality always matters more than the price tag.

🚨🔵 Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea, here we go! Agreement in place with official bid accepted by Crystal Palace. Broad terms in place last night and medical ongoing in London for the CB. £52m transfer fee. Axel Disasi not included in the deal. Lacroix signs until June 2032.

Souness is good at spotting some individual traits in midfielders but he doesn’t get how it all fits together both on an individual and team basis. Suspect that’s why he flopped as a gaffer. The main point he should’ve made is Rice + Anderson as a combination being sub-optimal instead of criticising Rice who has other world class traits. And a midfielder who has a combination of moving, carrying & defending as well as Rice should never be a CB.
Sports Uncensored@SportsUncensrd

🚧 “The two midfielders [Rice and Anderson] are limited!” 😲 “I think [Rice] might be a centre half!” Graeme Souness believes England’s midfield pairing are not as good as people make out… 📺 youtu.be/xxT3DlF900I

@PompeyPedro agree to some extent, but Sorloth didn't do anything to change the angle... could have faked to take stones on, on the right side to move stones and create an angle, or first touch should have taken him more centrally to allow a pass direct to Haaland with his second touch..

Anyone who has ever played or watched ball beyond World Cup games knows that this pass was never on for a left footer, or at least had a pretty low chance of success. Sørloth is getting pelters online but Stones got his positioning absolutely perfect.

Funny how the media romanticises Klopp vs Pep but constantly downplays Arteta vs Pep. Klopp spent nearly a decade trying to stop Guardiola and won the league once. Arteta has gone toe-to-toe with the greatest manager of this generation and already has a league title to show for it. The standards seem different when it’s Arsenal.

@Arsenalcore2 8-2 with Rosenior, but 3-0 with Marseca.... a good coach makes a big difference.... we exposed their weakness defensively in their left back area by creating overloads with Palmer and Gusto and went direct over the press...

The funny thing about Chelsea fans is that they open their mouths wide, telling us how we would have played PSG to win, lol. Now, this same Chelsea were beaten so badly. I mean so badly, you can imagine being battered 8-2 on aggregate by that same PSG. And you’re telling me how I should have played them? Oga, PSG didn’t play anything against me. They were just playing back passes amongst themselves for 120 minutes, lol Chelsea fans know nothing. Absolutely nothing about football.

Not only did Marcos Alonso leave Chelsea with his 18 yard box threat, he also took away his ability from free kicks. One of the, if not the best free kick takers the club has ever employed 🎯

@kierangill_DM Chalobah, as a LCB, how can you be here, there are 2 newcastle players in striker positions, Gordon, who Fofana is marking and Willock...if you are out of position, you need to be screaming at James to make him aware.. James could also have sensed the danger, but not a natural DM

If we go a spend big money on a 26/27 year old on £250-300k per week it’s a huge risk. We’ve done it before (Lukaku, Sterling) & they flopped, it took us years to get rid of them. Chelsea don’t have the revenue to take huge risks. So we have to look long term & be sustainable.

🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: A group of fans met with a club director recently, and say they were met with arrogance and dismisivness. Via @NotAProjectCFC • On the departure of Maresca, the director said that a coach’s overall impact is overestimated, and that there is no statistical relationship between managers and results. • According to the board director, problems with Maresca stemmed from him not being offered some of the same contract details that the sporting directors have in place.. • The director could not put a timeline on when Chelsea will compete at the top again, but that it was ‘f’ing obvious we are building one of the best teams in the world” The director denied they were being condescending and told us we have no more right to be upset than they do (despite the fact we are paying fans). • The club’s effort to reduce the wage bill has been seen as a means of offsetting the spend on players so far, and the director was honest about there being no appetite to compete for more established Premier League signings for this reason. A handful of players that have been successful for us were given as some sort of justification for this approach. • The club director spoke very disrespectfully about what was achieved under the previous ownership and of individuals involved in that time. In their view, the current ‘project’ consisting of vast expenditure and player churn is the only means with which we can hope to compete at the elite level at some point in the future. • Chelsea simply cannot afford to compete for the likes of Semenyo and Guehi, and that players with resale value is a more realistic approach. • The club director expressed surprise that, in view of the club still being 13 points off the top of the table at the time (this has risen to 19 points at the time of writing), in the fourth season of a ‘transitional period’, fans are not showing more patience. Although the director admitted they hoped for more progress this season. • Luis Enrique would not be the right fit for us as manager, and John Terry is not the right fit ‘proffesionally’ and should not be involved in first team affairs.

✍️ 'With every significant defeat comes a natural reaction to call for change. Change the goalkeeper, change the defenders, change the project. But the best and easiest change Chelsea could make for next season would be to remove the Club World Cup winners’ badge from their shirts. 'Vice-captain Enzo Ferndandez perfectly highlighted just what the badge stands for when he pointed to it after equalising against Paris St-Germain in the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. 'His peacocking celebration was pure arrogance and that is exactly what the badge represents.' Read @Matt_Law_DT's full column 👇 telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/… #CFC | #Chelsea
