Call me naive. I believe we can make the genocide of Middle Eastern Christians one of the biggest issues of our time. Bigger than Israel. Bigger than Gaza. If the West wants *Christian revival*, it can no longer ignore the persecuted church, or said revival will never arrive.

We have been told many times that there won’t be boots on the ground. Many (almost all) of the pro war accounts here have given breezy assurances that there won’t be boots on the ground. If we do end up with boots on the ground, prepare yourself for the most shameless gaslighting campaign we’ve ever witnessed, as all of the same voices insist that no such assurances were ever given, and in fact we always knew there would be boots on the ground and were never told anything different.

✝️🇮🇱 - It should be noted that the Palm Sunday Mass has never been prevented by those ruling the Holy Land since 1349, when the Black Death was ravaging the world. While the public was barred from entry in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the clergy were still permitted to conduct the rites. Neither the Six-Day War nor the Israeli War of Independence saw a formal ban on the Mass, and there is no evidence to suggest it did not take place. Ottoman and Mamluk rulers never issued such restrictive measures during their centuries of rule over Jerusalem. The last authorities to formally prohibit this Mass for political reasons were the Fatimids, prior to the destruction of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in 1009. No political entity has prevented this Mass in over 1,000 years.

"Work with" the Patriarch? On what? The damage is already done and cannot be repaired. Palm Sunday services were missed for the first time in centuries - purely because of Israeli thuggery. The State of Israel is not a fit custodian for Jerusalem and its holy sites.
Ambassador Mike Huckabee@GovMikeHuckabee

My statement re Prohibiting the Latin Patriarch of entering Church of Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday: While all Holy sites in the Old City are closed due to safety concerns for mass gatherings including the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Al Aqsa Mosque, the action today by the Israel Nat'l Police to deny Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa and 3 other priests from entering the Church to offer a blessing on Palm Sunday is an unfortunate overreach already having major repercussions around the world.  Home Front Command Guidelines restrict any gatherings to 50 people or less.  The 4 representatives of the Catholic Church were well below that restriction.  Statements from the Gov't of Israel indicate the action to prohibit Cardinal Pizzaballa entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher were for safety reasons, but churches, synagogues, and mosques throughout Jerusalem have met with the restrictions of 50 or less.  For the Patriarch to be barred from entry to the Church on Palm Sunday for a private ceremony is difficult to understand or justify. Israel has indicated it will work with the Patriarch to accommodate a safe means of carrying out Holy Week activities.

So we messed up our time and missed church online at Redeemer in Ft Wayne so we were scrambling to find another service. Yeah no. We should have known better. I nearly lost my mind when the female reading Holy Scripture started leading the congregation in the Apostles Creed. They didn’t follow any of the Divine Services in the LSB, their Communion statement was pretty weak and then that situation. We held on and enjoyed the hymns. Lord have mercy. It’s wild out there my family.

The patriarch only wanted to celebrate a mass with just one friar and had planned to enter the church through a backdoor without any public. Not only was the rabbi in charge of the administration of the Western Wall allowed to do something similar recently, but so were Muslim Waqf preachers at Al-Aqsa during Ramadan and Eid. The idea that the patriarch was less safe in the Holy Sepulcher than in his usual residence, which is also in the Old City, is preposterous on its face. It's obvious that what happened is that some of the troglodytes in Ben Gvir's police were overzealous and created an international scandal for the Israeli government, which then came up with that ridiculous story in the hope that it would reduce the fallout. You can say that it's not some anti-Christian conspiracy on the part of the Israeli government, but you don't have to be retarded and repeat this nonsense, as the pro-Israel brigade in the West is currently doing.
Lahav Harkov@LahavHarkov

There is a difference between not allowing mass prayer and not allowing the clergy to conduct prayers on their own. Israel Police allowed the Western Wall rabbi to do so during the war (see below), and is not providing an answer as to why Cardinal Pizaballa can’t do the same.

The Assyrians are the oldest people in the world, older even then the Jewish nation, and they speak Aramaic, Christ's tongue. Their civilization predates Christianity itself. They built a Church that spread Christianity to China & India. What did we do to them? Iraq War -> Gone. 1.5m -> 150,000 in Iraq. Let alone Turkey, let alone Syria, let alone Iran. The Maronites are the oldest Christians in the Levant. The cedar that built the Temple is found in their homeland. They were the backbone of the French-Lebanese project, they were the pillar of its prosperity & stability. What happened to them? In 1932, they were a majority; now they are becoming a besieged minority, stuck between the IDF & Hezbollah. The Christian communities of Syria are a mosaic of the oldest Christians in the world. The Christians of Antioch. Aramaic speakers, Greek speakers, Arabic speakers. From Orthodox to Catholic to Syriac. Literally the land of the Apostles. What happened to them? Civil war (a proxy war). 2m in 2011 -> 500,000 today. Why are we allowing this to happen? Why does our conscience not ache? Why are we voting in "Christian" politicians who ignore the greatest tragedy in all of Christendom?

Those justifying the Israeli police's actions this morning: Please note that synagogues in Jerusalem remained OPEN to small crowds. Israeli military wartime rules restrict crowds to 50. This applies to Jerusalem. Cardinal Pizzaballa's entourage consisted of four people, in full compliance with the rules.

JUST IN: Israeli Police prevented Cardinal Pizzaballa from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre today, as he went to say Mass. @LPJerusalem calls it a “grave precedent” which “constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure.” Full statement from @LPJerusalem below —— Joint Press Release The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land Holy City of Jerusalem Palm Sunday, 29 March 2026 This morning, the Israeli Police prevented the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, together with the Custos of the Holy Land, the Most Reverend Fr. Francesco Ielpo, OFM, the official Guardian of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, as they made their way to celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass. The two were stopped en route, while proceeding privately and without any characteristics of a procession or ceremonial act, and were compelled to turn back. As a result, and for the first time in centuries, the Heads of the Church were prevented from celebrating the Palm Sunday Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This incident is a grave precedent, and disregard the sensibilities of billions of people around the world who, during this week, look to Jerusalem. The Heads of the Churches have acted with full responsibility and, since the outset of the war, have complied with all imposed restrictions: public gatherings were cancelled, attendance was prohibited, and arrangements were made to broadcast the celebrations to hundreds of millions of faithful worldwide, who, during these days of Easter, turn their eyes to Jerusalem and to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Preventing the entry of the Cardinal and the Custos, who bear the highest ecclesiastical responsibility for the Catholic Church and the Holy Places, constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure. This hasty and fundamentally flawed decision, tainted by improper considerations, represents an extreme departure from basic principles of reasonableness, freedom of worship, and respect for the Status Quo. The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land express their profound sorrow to the Christian faithful in the Holy Land and throughout the world that prayer on one of the most sacred days of the Christian calendar has thus been prevented.

To my American friends, I want to speak from the heart, because this moment truly moved me as a Japanese citizen. When President Trump made that Pearl Harbor joke, it wasn’t just humor to us. It felt like a weight I’d carried my whole life was suddenly lifted. My chest tightened, and honestly, tears came close. For 80 long years, we Japanese have lived under a heavy shadow — the constant expectation to apologize, to reflect, to stay in “guilt mode.” Even though we’re the closest of allies, that old wound never fully healed. We felt bound by the past, by the Constitution America helped write for us, always a little smaller, always needing to prove we were sorry enough. But in that single joke, Trump did something powerful. He turned a painful history into a shared laugh between equals. It was like he was saying: “Hey, it was a long time ago. We’re good. Let’s move forward — as brothers.” No more endless atonement. No more living in the shadow of being the “former enemy.” The curse broke. Japan feels free to stand tall again. Right now, cherry blossoms are blooming beautifully all across Japan. 🌸 This spring, the sakura feels like a perfect symbol — a fresh beginning. Not two nations stuck in old roles, but true equals, proud brothers, shoulder to shoulder, ready to build the future together. To the American people: We don’t want to be subordinates forever. We want to be your real partners — strong, proud, and loyal. The kind of allies who ride or die together. Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you, America. The strongest alliance in the world is rising again — as equals, as brothers, forever. #PhoenixRising 🇯🇵🤝🇺🇸🌸
