@k1w1 @mitchellh Wouldn't it be weird if the same company that owned Github also owned one of the most prolific Github slop creating AI tools?

Ghostty is leaving GitHub. I'm GitHub user 1299, joined Feb 2008. I've visited GitHub almost every single day for over 18 years. It's never been a question for me where I'd put my projects: always GitHub. I'm super sad to say this, but its time to go. mitchellh.com/writing/ghostt…

@rshinra That's exactly the point, the argument Ehrlich made, that we found ways running out of resources, that he was right even though technically wrong.

Back in the 1990s, early Internet nerds were convinced we were running out of IPv4 addresses and that we needed to create a new standard, IPv6, to prevent this. They used the same arguments as Paul Ehrlich, exponential growth meeting a fixed supply, leading to devastating collapse. They did this even after Ehrlich was proven completely wrong in 1990. This argument is a higher level Truth that can never be disproven, no matter how many times its predictions fail to come about. Over 30 billion devices are connected to the IPv4 Internet and we sill haven't run out of IPv4 addresses. Of those are 8.5 billion mobile phones on the IPv4 Internet. Yet, when people explain IPv6 to you, the first thing they'll tell you is that it's needed to prevent the Internet from running out of addresses.

Fun Paul Ehrlich fact: He didn't want to personally sign the check to Julian Simon to pay off his infamous lost bet about resource prices. So he made *his wife* stroke the check.

@heystevebauman If you need any help testing, I'd be happy to. Doing a big upgrade on my LDAP heavy site, got a staging environment ripe for testing.

@cheesegrits I'd say relatively soon. The LDAP emulator is the biggest task to update. I'd say a month or two -- that includes upgrade docs etc.

LdapRecord v4 has been released 🎉 This has been quite a long release in the making! This new version modernizes query building and parsing, making long term maintenance on the project significantly easier for me (and others) Check out the link below for details! 👇

Been thinking about calling time on Minty. It's been mad to see it get to where it is, but like a dingus I've basically made it too specialist to run on my own. It does leave me with a pretty silly SR setup...could maybe put that in something else? Thoughts?

A while ago I announced LdapRecord v4 was coming soon, but it's remained in purgatory while I was figuring out how to resolve some remaining v3 query builder bugs that I wanted fixed for v4 (while I'm in a position to make breaking changes) These are *finally* fixed after completely overhauling how queries are compiled, so I'm really excited to get v4 out for you guys. Not much longer now!

@TonyLeeke @JVMonte2 Good list. I've only just woken up and still working on first cup of coffee, but to that list I would immediately add Carlos Santana, Mark Knopfler and SRV. But as you say, probably dozens more.

I’m starting to get into a habit of reading everything (blogs, articles, book chapters,…) with LLMs. Usually pass 1 is manual, then pass 2 “explain/summarize”, pass 3 Q&A. I usually end up with a better/deeper understanding than if I moved on. Growing to among top use cases. On the flip side, if you’re a writer trying to explain/communicate something, we may increasingly see less of a mindset of “I’m writing this for another human” and more “I’m writing this for an LLM”. Because once an LLM “gets it”, it can then target, personalize and serve the idea to its user.

@freedomite @SethAbramson Estimates vary, but even with the most generous estimate of about 500,000 people in the US living off-grid, that's still only about 0.15% of the population. If that's your definition of regular folks, you don't know what "regular" means.

I love it. Bring it on. The regular folks...we raise our own food, we live small, and we are off grid. Burn the entire stock market down so America can rise like a Phoenix and we can destroy the globalism that subjugated the regular folks for decades. Most regular folks don't have money in the stock market. Let the rich suffer.

@Slugg37 Still a bit inflated, that price :( I'm guessing the vendors are cashing in a bit, they're a better deal sub-$50. But still very handy and will save over air cans even in short-term, for some!

@AORacingUSA @Sneaky_Bison @willowcooki Oh, c'mon Kelly, that was obviously an implied threat of legal action. Albeit an empty threat (one might even say "toothless") because your trademark is for "dinasaur design applied to an auto", not "teeth on grill of an auto". Time to apologize before you lose more good will.

@brendt_gd It seems to just be the usual fretting about a change in starter kits, combined with angst about incorporating WorkOS. If you don't like the starter kits, don't use them. Or if you don't like Livewire, use React or Vue. If you don't like WorkOS, Fortify is still here.
