John Beames: Champion of the Oriya Language In the enchanting tale of the late nineteenth century, John Beames emerges as a pivotal figure in saving the Odia language from the brink of oblivion within its very own province.

Any sane person with eyes will recognise that this isn't Dahibara Aloodam in the photo 🙃

The Great Singapore Obsession and Odisha’s Forgotten Reality Everyone in power seems obsessed with the great Singapore story. Politicians and bureaucrats keep flying there, amazed by the discipline, cleanliness, and the famous Changi Airport. They return with glowing speeches and photos that look good on paper but change nothing on the ground. What Singapore achieved was not magic. It was the result of political will, discipline, and people-centric reforms. They modernised their laws, infrastructure, education, and healthcare with consistent vision. They changed the fate of a port city through real planning, not empty talks. Here in #Odisha, we keep hearing lectures from bureaucrats who go on government-funded visits and return claiming to bring change. They talk about modern governance and smart development, but everything ends up as another temporary showpiece. Our politicians make their state visits, sign memorandums, and return with promises that soon vanish into cold storage. Months later, the same Singapore success story comes back again through another speech or seminar, and the cycle continues. Odisha, however, is not Singapore. It does not need to be. It has its own boundaries, its own strengths, and a unique growth path that cannot be compared to any other region. Sadly, that vision has never been realised. We are a mineral rich state, yet every government, regardless of political colour, has only exploited this single resource. The entire focus remains on mining and royalties, while sectors like agriculture, technology, industries, and tourism remain neglected. Because of this short-sighted policy, #Odisha has become a case of resource rich but opportunity poor. We are sitting on potential that has never been unlocked. #OdishaDevelopment #IndiaDeservesBetter #ReformNotRhetoric #LeadershipWithoutWill
