the only vc i met and actually is doing something similar is @Chen with speedrun otherwise, i’ve been very disappointed

i'm helping 10+ companies with growth, they’re all doing $5m to $150m arr they’ve all raised huge rounds with top-tier vcs (sequoia, a16z, …) and are growing 50–100% MoM and something drives me crazy: their investors have no clue how growth actually works i think vc firms should have real growth operators on their team to help their portfolio with actual tactics & strategies >office hours >share screen >get into the tools >review numbers >get hands dirty all of this on a weekly basis often vcs hire ex-vps to “help” the portfolio problem is, most vps have never really been in the trenches they joined companies that already did the 0 → 1 sometimes years ago and their real job was management, reporting & internal politics they never really did the dirty work >reaching out to influencers >dealing with dozens of ugc farm gen z creators >negotiating prices >coordinating launches >launching the first meta campaigns >uploading creatives >running claude code seo agents >setting up clay outbound campaigns >warming up domains for cold email with lemwarm all that dirty shit you actually have to do to grow a company and those things change every 6 months: tools, tactics, best practices…

@Chen Too many launch videos these days! So much opportunity in putting the same effort/funding towards sharing people actually using your product, as that seems to be in shorter supply these days… PMF is the greatest entertainment

i find each of these pieces @AviSchiffmann drops to be captivating. many are saying this is a "launch video", which it is not. this is the third of a series which all brings texture to who seem to be real customers. i'm a massive proponent of more videos like this over the cinematic, frenetic motion graphics we see every day. also strange that others are calling this "dystopian" as if this is some made up person in some made up world? sure, it's probably deeply unsettling to a safe tech coastal audience but this makes me feel more than some glossy commercial set with actors roleplaying artifical user behaviors, in artifical scenarios. yesterday i saw a meta x oakley spot where an extreme biker wipes out into a puddle of mud, smiles, and goes "meta, is it okay to eat mud?". like what? at the end of the day, i respect those who have the courage to try something different. documenting real customer stories should also not have to feel different?
