The entire modern colonial system of the past 500 years is a creation of white people. White people did not merely establish it, they maintained, benefited from, and defended the colonial order through weapons, law, economics, religion, and media.

An African man was seated next to a racist Chinese passenger on a train in China. The Chinese man immediately covered his nose, openly implying that the African smelled bad. The African man responded by doing exactly the same thing. Even after the Chinese man stopped, the African refused to let peace reign and kept mirroring the offensive gesture.

Matcha suddenly became “Japanese technology” now? Powdered tea culture and whisked tea practices came from China’s Song dynasty tea culture long before Japan repackaged them into its own ritual aesthetics. Japan did what it always does: Take from Chinese civilization. Miniaturize it. Ritualize it. Rebrand it. Sell it to the West as “uniquely Japanese.” Now China produces it at scale, with comparable quality and lower prices, and suddenly Japan cries “our treasure was stolen.” The source civilization is not stealing from the reseller. China is not “copying Japan.” China is reclaiming an old cultural branch and putting it through modern industrial capacity.

interesting also the feedback loops. E.g. the 3rd or 4th word 管理 meaning management came from Japan back to China. It existed as Chinese word, but wasn't used in the modern sense. Other Chinese words like economy 经济 use Chinese characters that were put together like this in Japan and entered Chinese vocabulary from Japanese testbooks. Korea and Vietnam also used to write with Chinese characters (Koreans still do a little in the south). Vietnam lost that access to its ancient East Asian culture sphere during colonial change in script.

@JeremiahDJohns You mean the Indian residential schools in the US and Canada? If so, you'd have to spend a lifetime researching it, because there is so much that has been covered up by the US and Canadian governments.

Reporting from the Financial Times on Xinjiang remains incredibly grim: * In some areas, 90% of children are taken from parents to be educated in boarding schools where they aren't allowed to speak Uyghur * Officials monitor who eats during Ramadan and report those who skip meals * Basic items like prayer mats and religious text are considered illegal contraband * Adult Uyghur women are pressured to marry Han Chinese men, and there are official goals to sterilize a certain % of them. * Xinjiang has the largest prison capacity in the world relative to population * Huge numbers of Uyghur prisoners are now being shipped across the country in forced labor schemes, as a way to dodge Xinjiang sanctions/boycotts * The CCP shut down all 10 existing Uyghur-language publishers, none remain. They fed one university's book collection into a shredder. There's a lot going on the world, but it's worth remembering that China is still actively engaged in cultural genocide. They're barely even hiding it, they openly talk about the need to 'correct' Uyghur culture and create 'ethnic unity'. They are openly destroying an entire culture as efficiently as they can, cutting children off from parents, restricting language, restricting religious practice, forcing sterilizations and intermarriage, imprisoning anyone who resists the tiniest amount and shipping them out to forced labor factories. That is what the CCP is. ft.com/content/119d8c…

@Jesii_ca_M @pakmann2k India has a diversity in food. U can't say Indian food is good or bad (don't judge street food). North to South, East to West we've unique dishes. Most places eat spicy food which you can't be able to eat. Indian sweets are very delicious in west bangal, North, & central India.
