"This franchise has helped me make friends that I never would have met, and got me through really tough times in my life," one petition signer says.
More than 400,000 people have signed a petition urging Sony and Bungie to develop Destiny 3 after Bungie ended active development of Destiny 2 with its final major update in June and shifted its focus to Marathon.
The petition, launched by @LUCKYY10P, argues that after more than a decade of the Destiny franchise, players deserve a true sequel that will "keep the fire of the Guardian spirit alive."

There's never been a more deserving Call of Duty to flop than Modern Warfare 4. Can't believe this is what Infinity Ward spent so long "cooking" up. Bitch, you haven't even turned the oven on!
I'm so glad that so many people are not falling for the Modern Warfare 4 bullshit. We're finally seeing the Call of Duty community gain a collective consciousness in real time.

While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. We wanted to highlight a few issues we're aware of and working to resolve:
➡️ Unavailable Enhanced (Green) Sponsored Kits: We’re continuing to investigate the root cause preventing access to the free Enhanced (green) Sponsored Kits. We’ll share more info as soon as we have it.
➡️ Key Templates: We’re aware of an issue causing previously held key templates (both in your Vault and those from your Armory before the reset) to continue to appear as Fragile. These will actually require a Matter Fixative to convert upon exfil as if they had the Compromised trait. New Key Templates should show as Compromised.
➡️ Rooks Spawning in Shipping Containers on Dire Marsh: We're aware some Rooks loading into Dire Marsh (near Complex) find themselves locked in a box.
