Nigerians come to Kenya visa-free but Nigeria is denying Kenyans visas after applying, paying $80, submitting flight + hotel bookings, invitation letters etcetera. How is this acceptable?

Back in my early career days, there was a very specific kind of creative shame. If your Creative Director reviewed your work and the ideas you shared sounded anything like another brand or agency’s work, you’ll never hear the last of it. God help you if the idea is now similar to what your client’s direct competitor had executed before. Any small thing: “Misty… this one that you’re looking very serious. Hope you’re not stalking XX brand to steal copy again?” 💀💀 What it immediately said was that you didn’t understand the brand, you didn’t interrogate the brief and you definitely did not have a strong strategy behind that idea. Originality was the bare minimum. Copywriters were actually… scary good. Wordplay was our playground. Fast forward to today and you can drive down a single road and see 10 billboards with the exact same copy style. “Where this meets that.” “Our mission, your vision.” It’s the same rhythm and the same template. And I keep asking myself… what exactly happened to us? Maybe it’s AI overdependence. Maybe we’re getting comfortable or maybe the barrier to entry now feels too low. But something is definitely shifting and not in a good way. Sometime last year, I had a free mentorship program through my company for young copywriters because I was so uncomfortable with this shift. I brought in my senior colleagues and we spent three months helping young copywriters break down ideas, strategy, brand voice, and conceptual thinking…the real backbone of this work. I’m not opening another cohort anytime soon 😅 but honestly, I need more senior copywriters to step into this gap. The creativity in this industry is thinning out because too many people think copywriting is just writing English. No more brand thinking or positioning or even distinction anymore. And if we don’t guard that standard, all our campaigns will continue sounding like one long copy-and-paste document.

We’ve identified industrial-scale distillation attacks on our models by DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax. These labs created over 24,000 fraudulent accounts and generated over 16 million exchanges with Claude, extracting its capabilities to train and improve their own models.
