Why are there 18 apartments on the Kings Road ( BT5) belonging to @choicehousing_ still lying vacant ( for months) while people are desperate for housing? @VIEWdigital

So once again Clarion are guilty of severe maladministration. I’ve lost to count of how many that is now. Plus a number of name and shame letters. Yet still the Regulator fails to intervene and no one at board or executive level is held to account. Why do you think that is?

Choice Housing Trust are now a member of the National Databank and are able to distribute free mobile phone data SIMs to our homeless hostel residents, and other people experiencing data poverty.

@sirwillpearson It depends what exactly you mean by “complex needs”, for example, many of our supported housing residents have multiple complex needs that are interrelated and compounded by the other complex needs. When we assessed this, the average was 5.4 support needs out of a list of 10.

Do I have any followers with experience of providing/commissioning complex needs supported accommodation? People with mental illness / physical illness plus drug/alcohol use. Would love to find examples of centres who can cope with more complexity than your average hostel.

@MickRobertsBoss So long as there’s effective property management, it shouldn’t matter where the owner lives.

@choicehousing_ Well it seems so. Or at least if u spend a lot of time abroad, u can't run your houses. People are being made homeless cause of this clause. Whether abroad or 1000 miles away, a phone call, text, email, is received by the plumber all the same. My tenants ring plumber direct

I've said this many a times to Nottm Sel Licensing. People run their houses from abroad no problem. Tenants tell u when they get problem, job done. Now Licensing here, they say u can't run it from abroad. 1/2 landlordzone.co.uk/news/landlords…

@JaynePDunn But will you work to get it reinstated at the 0 degrees threshold? Changing it to minus 2 degrees was inhumane, and keeping it at that level is I believe morally wrong.

@JaynePDunn Does SWEP (in Sheffield) still only kick in when temperature drops to minus 2 degrees? If so, could you persuade your fellow councillors to get it reinstated back to 0 degrees (as it used to be, many years ago when I worked there).

Housing benefit desperately needs to be unfrozen to support people trapped in homelessness, even government ministers agree. But according to @BBCMBuchanan, Chancellor @Jeremy_Hunt is still resisting. Help us continue to make the case for this change campaigns.crisis.org.uk/page/137302/ac…

@BigIssue Theft by finding is a criminal offence I believe, and this is obviously someone’s personal property, so surely the council (or the bin operatives themselves, if acting without authorisation) are committing a criminal offence? Police could make arrests?

Why is Camden Council destroying tents belonging to Homeless people? Will Camden be putting them up in temporary accommodation? I’m guessing not.

and simply giving out tents (or food) is not the answer. What is needed is a properly funded system of supported housing where the provision of support is a legal right, not simply based on the whim/budget of a local authority (which often falls short of the actual needs).

Suella Braverman MP says that homelessness is a lifestyle choice, and charities should not give out tents. She is (rightly) being slammed for this nonsense. However, the fact is, that many people experiencing homelessness ARE unable to sustain a tenancy without extra support,

@HelpSheffield I can ask our handyman to come and collect it/them from you. We can certainly pass on the other freezer to a different resident, but I’m only aware of the one resident in immediate need.

@choicehousing_ Just the one? Do they have transport? Where would it be? None sure about transport options yet.

Anyone want 1/2 under counter domestic freezers? Both work.
