@chrija Great summary! The amount of built-in capabilities in a SaaS will heavily shrink. As you can create ad-hoc reporting, dashboards, portals etc very customer centric way, many will come with an execution environment embedded. This makes it easy for everyone to run those extensions.

Spending lots of time with Claude Code in the last months (+ OpenClaw more recently) has made it abundantly clear to me that every piece of SaaS hugely benefits from being infused with AI. All not new, this has become clear soon after the ChatGPT moment... but it's become a lot more tangible to me recently. Pretty much everything needs to be reimagined from the ground up. Here's a quick (Claude generated) summary. Only looking at the past, recent past, and near-term future here. Not even mentioning the mid/long-term, in which AI agents will do the majority of the actual work.

CTO & CIOs: stop burning AI talent rewriting ERP/HCM/CRM and others. IT is 10% of company budget; and you're missing security, compliance, and enterprise basics along the way. The other 90%? Procurement, ops, finance - still running on spreadsheets. That's your asymmetric AI bet.

Could not agree more. If @leanix_net was started purely on microservices, company would not exist. We stayed monolith during bootstrapping and still run a large core service. It has saved us from tons of distributed systems complexities. Microservices around core to scale teams.
