@DuncanWestbury Most gardens look more like the wild one and many farmers fields more like the second, yet the wildlife lobby always wants to stop building nice low density homes with gardens.

@DreyfusJames Is it though? I have very little time for Starmer but banning millions of kids from social media platforms that they've using for years is surely worthy of a rigorous consultation and looking at different options.

Sorry to waste 29 seconds of your time, but could you just give this a listen & confirm that this is perhaps one of the most unintelligible, waffling load of meaningless guff you’ve ever heard? I’ve listened to it 3 times now, & I’ve NO idea what point he’s attempting to make…

It remains one of my strongest views that 72 very middle class constituencies effectively opting out of the serious choices facing our country by electing Liberal Democrats is the worst form of non-seriousness.

Fair enough, it was a brutal regime. But people seem to be forgetting that he was also a brilliant entertainer.

Decisions like this have left us with some of the world's highest energy bills. The National Grid plans to spend £288 million removing 10 pylons from Eryri National Park, paid for by increasing bills. That's more than 2x the combined annual budget of all 15 national parks!

The MP for Royston wants to set our "red lines"... REMEMBER THIS? Chris wants all of Britain to be like this. Let's stop him. The Government must prioritise the British people, not the VEGETABLE LOBBY.
Chris Hinchliff MP@CHinchliffMP

It’s time to set Red Lines for Nature. The endless chipping away of biodiversity and the nature laws protecting wildlife must STOP. Britain's biodiversity is on the brink. There are no branches left to prune without killing the tree. Enough is enough.

I wish this was unbelievable. You kill someone, get 19 years, commit more attacks including on prison officers, and for each offence - of which you're convicted - you get no addition on the 19 years. So, you can just do what you like in prison? thetimes.com/uk/crime/artic…

As a small person who frequently gets walloped in the face by rucksacks on public transport, I heartily endorse this @HadleyFreeman I’d take it further into the public domain though.

I watched Piers Morgan vs Nick Fuentes: the idea Morgan "won" the bout is delusional. I did, however, see the final extinction of the Big Confrontational Interview format. Wrote about it for @unherd unherd.com/2025/12/does-n…

@christnye @NeilForPoole What are you talking about we’ve built hundreds of thousands of homes. We have ridiculously weak environmental regulations as it is. Removing all protections will not help build the homes we need. Bulldozing habitats is bad for nature, gardens can’t make up for that

Ancient woodlands aren’t a blocker. Wildlife isn’t a hindrance. Chalk streams aren’t anti-growth. Our wildlife is on the brink - one in six species faces extinction. These species help define who we are as a nation - we won’t get a second chance to save them.

@helenlewis The problem is so obvious since you left Strong Message Here. Not even lip-service paid to anything other than far left thinking when it's two male comedians shooting the breeze.

I do think things are better now. For example, Tim Davie pulled the BBC out of the ludicrous situation of being graded as an employer by Stonewall on how far it preached Stonewall's (wrong) interpretation of equality law. But they're not fixed by any means.

I found Lewis Goodall's Substack piece very interesting on the internal politics of the BBC, but I can't agree with this bit. Gender-critical voices *were* marginalised and suppressed for most of the 2010s. A personal story (1/n)

The BBC had such a good thing with Strong Message Here but then the one voice of sanity and balance Helen Lewis went and it turned into another mindless Radio 4 smugfest.
