this is actually a big news story As legislature workers we thought nothing of it except ‘damn good deal’ but what explains Ontario politics more than members of parliament having access to affordable food options while their constituents struggle at the counter I paid $11 for a McMuffin meal this morning
Jack Hauen@jackhauen

I think there would be mass political unrest if more people knew about Queen's Park cafeteria prices. A grand slam is $6.50. Coffee is $1. Green juice is $3. I got a chicken breakfast burrito for $5.50 and it came with unlimited self-serve guac.

Not the 1st and will not be the last! Cases like this strike at the heart of public confidence in the TTPS and leaves a lasting perception that can infect (justifiably/unjustifiably) criminal jury trials.

Reuters confirms why I’ve been saying: the U.S. has been allowing fuel in to Cuban private businesses like foreign-operated hotels but barring it from hospitals and other publicly run institutions. I’m sure that the NYT and The Free Press, which produced entire articles about Hasan Piker’s hotel, will do a follow up now

An epidemic of suspicious trading has emerged around Trump's most consequential decisions — each time, just minutes or hours before he rattles global markets. It's precisely the kind of alleged corruption Trump built his political career railing against. axios.com/2026/03/25/tru…

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that literally every reporter on government in Canada has had the experience of being told yes they've received your inquiry, yes they have that information, and no you can't have it unless you file a FOI request.
Siobhan Morris@siomoCTV

The Premier said yesterday Ontario gets 75K FOI requests/year-- a resources draw. The government could provide basic information when reporters ask--like the cost of ad campaigns, studies done that purportedly support government decision, but those are often not supplied

Per this story, Premier Ford said while justifying ending public access to his & his cabinet ministers' records that Ontario's ministries & agencies receive 75,000 freedom of information requests a year. That's false. There were 28,346 in 2024, 28,346 in 2023, & 25,051 in 2022.

@AnitaAnandMP Prioritizing Africa trade while Canadians face skyrocketing housing, grocery, and energy costs from years of failed policies is tone-deaf. Consumer carbon tax wrecked affordability before axing in 2025, industrial version still hikes business costs passed to families. Focus on fixing Canada first, not virtue-signaling abroad. Merit and self-reliance built liberal democracy, not endless global handouts.

Today, I met with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) to reaffirm Canada’s support for Ukraine amid Russia’s attacks on energy infrastructure. So far this year, Canada has announced an additional $20M to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure needs. We must also recognize Russia’s attempt to erase Ukraine’s identity and culture, as earlier today Russia carried out strikes on Lviv, targeting UNESCO World Heritage sites. These are clear violations of international law and those responsible must be held accountable. Thank you to UCC’s CEO, Ihor Michalchyshyn, for this discussion, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavours as you depart your position.

Judge rules that 17-year-old Walid Ahmad likely starved to death in Israeli military detention, but closes the case anyway. Israel never charged him with a crime and still holds his body. Here’s how he died, as reported by his cellmate, 16-year-old American Mohammed Ibrahim:
