@LiangRhea @just_plain_Rick I wonder as to the probability of the primary infection(s) having been on board. Especially given the penchant of rats and mice for ships.
The incubation period (1-5 wk for initial symptoms) would suggest these are either all primary or secondary infections, not a mix of both.

@just_plain_Rick Hantavirus is actually quite hard to catch- humans are an 'accidental' host. There are far more rat-human cohabitations than hantavirus infections. So I guess the question has to be asked- how is there such close and prolonged contact as to cause this outbreak? 🐀👤🤔

@TheRealRhllor I'm (nominally) Catholic. Our chaplain is not (there's a separate number for the on-call Catholic priest for last rights). He still checks in on everyone (including me) on rough/busy days. Co-ordinates more boutique religious visits if needed. That's spiritual care.

I'm Lutheran. Everyday in my work as a chaplain I work with: Catholic, Orthodox, other faiths caring for folks. I work with Ukrainian Orthodox and Catholic clergy on PTSD care for soldiers. There's no time for theological debates in the face of immense suffering. 1/2

Agree. Quantity of bacteria in urine has no true real world value. If pt is symptomatic, pyuria on UA etc- then treat.
If asymptomatic - unless meeting specific criteria (can anyone name?)..don’t give antibiotics

The most common lab criteria for UTI, >100,000 cFu/ml, was derived from one study over half a century ago in asymptomatic patients and makes no sense for defining a UTI in SYMPTOMATIC patients.

@pulmo1 It’s allowed to stack the test with skinny participants that know what they need to do (usually cabin crew).
But even then some commercial airlines have blocked out seats (one JAL 738 recently made the news with its “uncomfortable” cushion) due to evacuation limits.

Yam Dreaming (VH-ZND) limping back to Sydney from Auckland at 25,000 feet and without EDTO, hence the strange routing to remain within 60 minutes of a suitable diversion airfield. Norfolk Island isn't suitable for a B787-9, likely using Noumea and Brisbane as alternates.
