I believe that it is extremely disappointing and alarming to see that American-American student-athletes in collegiate athletes are not supported or given the same academic opportunities as their white peers. @abhornUCRedu #ucr150

Collegiate athletes are labeled as amateurs so that the NCAA can continue to profit and not have to pay players. The term is used as a business tactic and as a way to keep its tie to their academic institution. #ucr150 @annaaacha

Do you think that it is okay for the NCCA to have consequences for transferring? Should they should feel pressured or obligated to stay in an environment that they do not feel is right for them in order to avoid the consequences? #ucr150 @annaaacha

I personally think the NCAA has to implement more restrictions and requirements when a player recovering from a concussion is returning to their sport. Concussions are a serious matter and can cause life long damages if they are not treated properly. #ucr150 @annaaacha

Title IX was created to create equality within men and women’s sports. Thought Title IX prohibits discrimination by gender we still see inequality in athletics especially in representation. What do you think could help bring more equality? @annaaacha#ucr150

Do you believe that the National Letter of Intent puts more stress on athletes or do you believe it is more beneficial to them because they have a legal documentation and commitment to an institution. @annaaacha #ucr150

College athletes are seen as amateurs by the NCAA so they are not compensated for their time and talent. Is it fair that athletes are struggling financially even though many hours and effort is put into their sports while institutions make gains on their success?#ucr150@annnaacha

Something that I found interesting was that college athletes often times get stereotyped and mistreated even though they bring a lot of attention and revenue to their institutions. @annnaacha #ucr150

@trinbans @KatryaLy Yes Trinity, I agree with you. I think that colleges that continually benefit affluent white student disregard minorities. Do you think a fair and beneficial system for admissions is possible? @abhornUCRedu

College admissions should treat everyone fairly, no matter their race. Advisors should work to help all students. Education is important for everyone and should not be a special privilege. How to end racism for equal chances in sports? @abhornUCRedu #ucr50

Was it surprising to see that there was a difference in how white athletes are treated and given privileges compared to minority athletes? If so what stood out to you? #ucr50 @abhornUCRedu

@Daniella0116 I agree with you! The NCAA should allow athletes to advertise for their own selfs and proved expenses to the ones that struggle with it. Althetes work hard to make their team look good and it’s unfair how they get treated sometimes. @abhornUCRedu #UCR50 #UCR50horn

@k1mber1yperez @KatryaLy This is such an important question to ask because at the end of the day athletes, people in general, should have freedom. Respect is also a great point to add because having respect is what supports their relationship to the sport. #ucr50 @abhornUCRedu

It's crazy to think that Title IX took 20 years to be established. To allow and give an opportunity for women to participate in sport. For sex discrimination no longer exist, however it is still seen in todays society. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@jmart758 @TA_ED50 I think that Title IX has had a positive impact in colleges sports. But I do see how in some aspects women’s collegiate sports seem inferior such as in media coverage and resources. @abhornUCRedu #ucr50

@jmart758 @TA_ED50 Women’s sports spark a lot of controversy in today’s discussion towards collegiate. However, through the education of college students today knowledge about the inequality of women's sports. I believe gender equality is one step away #ucr50 @abhornUCRedu

@GigiDuarte_7 @KatryaLy I agree. I believe that educators should not but a bias on a student just because they have a talent. It is very difficult to be a college athlete and they should not look down on them academically. @abhornUCRedu #UCR50

This painted narrative of “dumb jock” is old. Athletes already have a biased stigma because they’re undermined by academic performance from professors. Professors shouldn’t treat a student any less, the issue should be pressed with coaches/dean, not students. #UCR50
