What a show! Aurora over Lake Washington last night, right in Seattle. I’ve seen aurora in Iceland, but this is the first time I’ve seen reds and blues in the mix of colors.

@warpling I’ve seen photos of this storm from as far south as Florida. Just incredible!

Getting the teeny tiniest glimpse of aurora for the first time in my life from Amsterdam tonight. What a crazy solar storm to reach so far south!

@NWSSeattle The storm has been putting on a good show over the East Side!

Lots of lightning over the region today as detected via satellite and ground networks. Also note the opposing flow of the marine stratus working northward with the convective debris clouds moving southwest towards the coast. #WAwx

@MatJarvis I took out my camera here in Seattle, and those smudges appear to be gone. I just can’t figure it out ;)

The closest I’ve felt to standing on another world: Southern Hemisphere sky over Atacama Camp during a climb of Ojos del Salado, the world’s tallest volcano (6,892 m / 22,614 ft.) Less than a week ago…

I was really digging @BasicAppleGuy’s “Lesser Known Apple Watch Workouts” parody designs, so I just had to commission him to make sport icons for Slopes. (Multi-sport support has been a back-burner TODO of mine for years. Still some work to do, code-wise, but getting closer.)

Perfectly dark skies in the high Peruvian Andes are ideal for observing the central Milky Way! Fuji X-T3, 12mm f/2.0 20 seconds. 3900 meters elevation.

@KSeattleWeather Do you happen to know the longest wait for 75° in Seattle?

In 78 years of weather records, there have only been 11 instances where Seattle has failed to reach 80° by mid-June (including this year). This is our longest wait for 80° since 2011, when it took until July 2. Record latest first 80 occurred in 1980 (July 21, thanks to 🌋)

@parrots I went this year, but will skip next year and go mountain climbing. But, I’m working on a trip to Revelstoke and Kicking Horse. And I want to do another cat skiing trip in 2024. DM or email and let’s get some snowy adventures dialed in!

@cjlaurel BTW are you going to BC again next year? Would love to join. I realized the board I had was _terrible_ for those conditions (it’s a tank built for east coast ice). New board (above) is soooo much more fun. I’ll still be the caboose, but a slightly better one ;)
