@cardinal4ever @jayhaykid I don’t know, people complain when a guy signs a contract to stay on a bad team and complain when guys sign with the Dodgers and Yankees.

I’m starting to get genuinely concerned how quickly people seem to have forgotten that Mike Trout was the best player in baseball for a decade and will end up as one of the 25 or so best position players in the history of the sport.

@muttyoz1 @MLB Julio does that “X” signal with his arms when he makes a good catch. Stands for “No Fly Zone”.

@luke_arkins It seems absolutely bananas that the Ms only have 2 3B in their history over 10 WAR. Do they not even have a dozen guys above replacement level?

@JonnyRoot_ THE POINT is missed here.... GET to the plate and swing the BAT...Im not paying $$$ to have him stand there and look pretty.....play the friggin game. If the ball is shoulders to knees SWING THE BAT. The batter is as much in the wrong as the UMP.

The first female home plate umpire in MLB history, Jen Pawol, made the worst call you’ll ever seen in a game… After it was challenged by the catcher, the ABS system showed just how awful it was 😬

@msalas24 Bold move for a replacement level player trying to make the roster. Maybe he just loves Sacramento.

@Bandz6432 @MarinersONTap They got blanketed by Michael Lorenzon, Luis Severino and Eduardo Rodriguez. No excuse for a lineup like that. It is what it is though.

@ckossnumbers @MarinersONTap Baseball is a game of failure, Venezuela was hot and on a roll, we struggled, could be due to a number of things. Derosa put together a good squad who vibed well, hits just didn’t land this game

@Bandz6432 @MarinersONTap I don’t know. Roster like that, just keep em loose and stay out of their way. He had them looking stiff and nervous. Maybe it wasn’t him, but something definitely seemed off with them.

@RobertStock6 Absolutely insane that people are still taking issue with Perdomo making the correct swing decision. It's a Mason Miller slider 3 inches below the zone, there's a good chance he whiffs on it if he swings. He took ball four, it's not his fault the ump blew it.

This is the number 1 idea that people hold in their head. And the strategy would be UNBEATABLE if you could actually do it. But people have these rose-colored glasses that because SOMETIMES mlb batters foul off close pitches, they should be attempting to do so all the time. In reality, when you decide to swing the bat you’re sometimes going to hit it in play, foul it, or miss it. If you don’t account for the possibility of all three, you’re not paying attention to reality.

@RobertStock6 Foul it off?

@allgood122172 @RobertStock6 You’re applying hindsight analysis. A professional umpire calls that a ball probably 95+% of the time. Opponents hit .137 off Miller last year. .100 against his slider. A walk in that AB was a very good outcome.

@DQ3223 Agreed. It’s already below his front knee, which is in his stride, which is also likely in front of the plate. The ABS system would have this no where near a strike.

@ckossnumbers Yep. It tracks from the midpoint on the plate but your plane is where the knees are in your stance. Not the lowest knee or moving as they bend. So, it is already below the knee. Another frame and it's lower so it would still be a ball

For those that want the robotic strike zone. That pitch last night would definitely have been a strike. All it would have to do is touch any part of the 3d cube. And with breaking balls you could throw some that bounce. Yes literally bounce that would clip the cube and be called a strike. So as a reminder. It’s not where the catcher catches it. It’s where the ball crosses the plate. I promise the robotic strike zone Would have that as a strike because it would have crossed let alone clipped the strike zone cube.

@JaysBillsLeafs @Dutch_Oven45 They don't show you the 3D view. It may be at the front of the plate but if they showed x,y,z viewpoints people wouldn't be arguing.

@history_oh61180 @Dutch_Oven45 Yeah it’s a smidge below the knee in the frame, but the measurement is from his knee when in his normal stance. When swinging he’s going to bend his front knee more making that look closer than it is.

@KasperStats People denying what’s right in front of them in favor of having a bias rooted in nothing but pride and/or hatred is frustrating to deal with. It’s like handling a stubborn child that isn’t yours. Just gotta have grace somehow. All g.

I deleted a few select tweets about the Perdomo call -- I haven't changed my mind but I was getting a little mean-spirited and I don't really want to do that. I started out just wanting to be accurate and ended up getting a little frustrated. So, I'm sorry about that.

@PhilliesMV32023 @ChadMoriyama The likelihood that pitch results in a ball 4 call is WAY higher than the likelihood Perdomo gets a hit on that pitch, or any ensuing pitch for that matter.
