I almost went back to my engineering job at the worst possible moment. It was 2020, and I was working from home due to the lockdown. I'd just finished university and qualified with a first-class honours degree in engineering. I was just about to get a postgraduate pay rise after grinding 9+ hours every day for 4 years straight. When the lockdown hit, I finally had some extra time on my hands. That's when I remembered the dropshipping course that I'd bought in 2019 on impulse. I'd never had time to touch it before COVID. I started working through Anton Kraly's program. > Product research > Market research > Onboarded with suppliers > Built an ecom store, listing hundreds of products. Then I got that dreaded call from my boss. "Come back into work as of Monday." I froze. I made the decision right there on the phone. "Actually, I've decided I'm not going to come back in " My heart was racing. I'm not sure why it was so difficult, but I remember it was. I guess I was nervous about whether I was making the right decision. I wanted to cut off my income because I knew if I truly wanted to make this work, I needed to give it everything and not rely on a plan B. My boss wasn't pleased. "Submit a letter of resignation and drop off company assets." That was it. From that moment on, I never looked back. I know if I had continued to pursue that path, I never would have been happy. I would have been overworked and underpaid. On paper, engineering may sound like a good job, but you work long hours and have next to no freedom. I had no sales to prove that building an ecom brand would work out at that time. But 2 weeks after setting the ads live, I got my first sale. Within 6 months: $30,000/month. After 2.5 years: I sold the business.
