@iszi_lawrence @afharrold In Poland, we have something called 'smalec'. I'm told it is akin to dripping. It's basically lard but with bacony bits and sometimes onion. It's delicious on bread, at any time of the day. English people tend to recoil in horror when I tell them about it!

Today I’m making beef dripping for the radio. Do you know anyone who eats this still? Bread and #dripping? If so what meal for you have it?

@MissSDoherty @deputygrocott There's a great book called How not to Write a Novel (aimed at adults, but you could take ideas from it). Talks about the problem of descriptions which make you think so hard about the simile (e.g shark / Hitler) that the whole point of it is lost.

@deputygrocott It was as green as grass. It was as tall as a tower. It was brown like mud. Or my all time favourites: The shark was as mean as Hitler. The car was as shiny as mud. The cat was as soft as a chair.

@bennewmark Also, surely most workplaces have employees running to different schedules, e.g in a supermarket, you obviously can't all have breaks at the same time, hence a bell would be unfeasible. Completely bonkers argument

Classic begging question here. Who says job of schools is to prepare pupils for work? What a grim and colourless vision.

I have taught for 14 years. Have seen change after change. Pressure after pressure. You know what rankles? The fact support though a money insensitive is offered to keep new teachers. I’ve done this bag for a while. Where is the reward for teachers like me?

@Mr_K_Teacher If you've the technology for it, could they make a film or a documentary? They could show this to the children who were on the residential so they have something to show off.

I'm planning a week of activities for the children who aren't going on our residential trip in March. Any suggestions for low budget, easy and fun activities would be great! Thanks!
