After ~6.5 years at Google/Meta, I’m finally taking a chance to build my own thing! As I explore this rapidly changing environment, I’m starting to notice a few patterns. Here are the biggest 3 misconceptions I currently see in the AI space right now!

@Kpaxs Successful people don’t care about maybe looking like idiots as much as they care about not succeeding. Folks often miss the mark on 2 by optimizing for the wrong “success”. They want the end result and not the risk and work on the journey there, then must mentally compensate.

If you’re calling someone an idiot and they’re successful, one of these things is wrong: 1. Your definition of idiot 2. Your definition of success 3. Your ability to perceive what actually matters 99% of the time it’s door number 3. They’re optimizing for the wrong variables. The “idiot” figured out that you don’t get points for being clever in the group chat, you get points for doing the thing that works.

“why is this idiot successful” is one of my favorite observations people make because they’re always on the cusp of getting it but they never do

Low-agency people are embarrassed by exposure: being seen trying and failing, being seen as incompetent, being seen as different. High-agency people are embarrassed by waste: wasting their potential, wasting opportunities, wasting time performing competence instead of building it.
Kpaxs@Kpaxs

High-agency people seem to have this weird immunity to embarrassment. Getting rejected? Not embarrassing, that’s just data collection. Looking naive? Not embarrassing, that’s just information asymmetry you’re fixing. Breaking minor social rules? Not embarrassing, most rules are just Schelling points anyway. What would be embarrassing to them is not trying. That’s the thing they can’t live with.

You guys realize that Claude Mythos can’t be ethically released to the general public ever, right? That is, we just have to wait until the entire internet has been patched of all critical exploits, and all future code is forever scanned going forward. So no software should be released until it has been scanned by Mythos. But you have to be part of the handful of companies that have access to it. We are in a genie-out-of-the-bottle moment. When there’s a new major 0-day exploit, teams of agents will race to compromise systems while the means to stop them will be dependent on whether you are in the club or not (you are likely not in the club)

a well-known iOS Safari quirk is that inputs with a font-size <16px trigger an auto-zoom on focus using 16px is probably the best solution, but it can feel a bit heavy in tight UIs a clever workaround is to keep the font-size at 16px and scale the input down with CSS!

Ranking engineers by token spend is like me ranking my marketing team by who spent the most money. We may not have hit our KPIs, but Joe spent $200k on a branded blimp that only flies over his own house, so he’s getting promoted to VP! Don't mistake a high burn rate for a high success rate.

@hamids The target audience already has a Tesla, didn’t like Elon’s political swing, or found other EV alternatives as other brands followed the trend. Add in that FSD is okay but not as good promised, and the fact that they stopped producing the S and X models, it’s all a bit clearer.

In 2023 if you would've told me $TSLA would only sell 3.3M vehicles in 2026, I would've laughed! Didn't seem possible that it would sell so few cars based on the growth path it was on. Now Tesla is lucky to get to 1.6 Million! What went wrong?
Ramy@TeslaXplored

In 2023, consensus for Tesla deliveries in 2026 was - 3.3M vehicles sold - 5,000 Roadsters - 134,000 Cybertrucks - 4,300 Semi And I used to think analysts were dumb and soooo bearish! LOL 🤦🏽‍♂️🤣🤣🤣 $tsla

Victim blaming mode? 😂 This started when Elon ran his mouth on Twitter and then overpaid to buy it. Then he began firing workers under the guise of efficiency and big tech copied him. Hard to blame techies for playing ping-pong at work when that was the “dream” sold to them!

I completely f*** with this. > grew up dirt poor > limited tech & games were an escape > half family destroyed by hard addiction > me, mum, bro and sis end up in homeless hostel > met a fraudster at 16 who was hacking banks & atms > saw that as a way to escape the matrix literally > almost went deep down that path > given a chance to work security @TenableSecurity > the rest is history Tech gave me everything I have.
