The Washington Post has the best sports section in the country, and I don’t think it’s particularly close. Only a soulless corporate goon would think the paper is better without it. A short-sighted, cowardly decision. Shame is your legacy.

Adding Deno and Node.js creator Ryan Dahl to the growing chorus Software developers add WAY more value than memorizing the syntax trivia of the languages they use It's time to lean into that everything-else and cede putting semicolons in the right places to the robots
Ryan Dahl@rough__sea

This has been said a thousand times before, but allow me to add my own voice: the era of humans writing code is over. Disturbing for those of us who identify as SWEs, but no less true. That's not to say SWEs don't have work to do, but writing syntax directly is not it.

@ProfEmilyOster If I were you I would take the emails you’ve exchanged with them + any docs and a short description of anything else important not contained in those docs or on the site and ask it to draft a spec, then do this: x.com/trq212/status/… - then open edit the spec & set it loose
Thariq@trq212

my favorite way to use Claude Code to build large features is spec based start with a minimal spec or prompt and ask Claude to interview you using the AskUserQuestionTool then make a new session to execute the spec

@ProfEmilyOster Without seeing the site my guess is it would write & test scraping code for you. then, depending on your prompt, compile the data and test it for data quality checks (YoY % change or anything else you specify). Think of it as being able to write & run any code you can conceive of

What apps/websites do people use to listen to PDFs? I'm new to this and just tried @SpeechifyAI , but it skips all the "ff" and makes it really hard to understand.

When I last updated the best DC fried chicken sandwich guide last in 2022, these were the ones that got support. Any others missing here that I should poll out if updating?

If you're going to plot means and CIs to show your results, they should be 83% CIs (not 95% CIs). Why? Because then when people look at whether they overlap, the implicit statistical test has the correct size.

Hi! I’m Mary and I’m on the #EconJobMarket this year. Extreme heat doesn’t just affect students, it affects the people teaching them. JMP 🧵:

@mattyglesias @InezFeltscher I think our best evidence is that there really hasn't been brain drain from education: sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Might be the net effect of more women entering the workforce + rising educational attainment dominates any loss of talent from the teaching profession to other fields

Worth pointing out that the direct consequence of this is that our most intelligent and driven women are now making spreadsheets instead of teaching their town’s next generation and that teaching as a profession has collapsed accordingly

@andrewcgolden my kingdom for the Post to do a deep dive into why there are so many things at Nats park still branded as Terra, despite the company's collapse and its founder going to prison in Montenegro before being extradited to the US on fraud charges: justice.gov/archives/opa/p…

“Paige Against The Machine” That's what they called our campaign against Scranton's corrupt machine. I ran as an independent, won, and we kept going. We’ve reformed government and worked hard for people. Our current Congressman falls… a bit short, so we're taking our fight to DC

I'm learning the true Hanlon's razor is: never attribute to malice or incompetence that which is best explained by someone being a bit overstretched but intending to get around to it as soon as they possibly can.
