@ChloefromC @ABCaustralia There is a lot of pressure on farmers to produce offsets so the broader community can continue business as usual.

@pollyjhemming Key issue for farmers is carbon sequestration based credits do not provide ongoing income streams. Plus they bring an “embedded in my property” vibe that offers bob-tail income with long-tail risks…..

We probably look at the safeguard mechanism a little bit differently to everyone else, because we see it as a really, really important driver of demand and a very important incentive to get more money back through the farm gate, effectively, for practice change or improvement

These native fish are a our link back to when Au & NZ & Sth America were Gondwana. They're the little dinosaurs. 20 years of data deficiency isn't great. Land use change can bugger up habitat in days/one flood. #citizenscience needs more $$, facilitators & encouragement.

(IMO) Galaxias maculatus Last official record in 2002 in Spring Creek further west. None for this site. So much talk about measuring the health of waterways by what native fish species live in them over time. But data records for native fish in my area are 20+ This bothers me.

New report shows fossil fuel projects likely to emit more than carbon budget for whole industrial sector by 2030. Why should everyone else make deeper cuts to create room for more fossil fuels? It’s like accelerating towards a wall. #auspol climateanalytics.org/latest/coal-an…

Time to check in on the seas 🌊 Sea surface temperatures continue (SSTs) to run warm for the time of year. Marine heat wave conditions persist in many coastal areas as well. Warm SSTs will delay the seasonal transition to autumn. Keep tabs on SSTs ⬇️ niwa.co.nz/climate/sea-su…
