🇮🇪🚨 BREAKING! A large crowd of migrant men who have been issued with deportation orders gathered outside Dáil Éireann today to demand blanket amnesty and an end to deportations. Do you remember what happened to that little girl at CityWest in October? That man had an outstanding deportation order. They're also promising "no justice, no peace." Sinn Féin and the Green Party have signed documents expressing support for these migrants and endorsing their position around amnesty. Irish people need to start taking this seriously, thousands of migrants are making demands of our country and promising "no peace" if their demands aren't met. At any other time in history this would be seen as an invading army.
The Taoiseach and Tánaiste need to take responsibility for the chaos in the international protection system that is happening on their watch - a broken system, long delays, failure to enforce deportations, and massive profiteering in the provision of IPAS accommodation. We need a fair system where the public can have confidence that the rules are applied and enforced.
🚨 THIS IS BIG 🚨 Kilkenny County Council just unanimously called for an end to planning exemptions for IPAS. This is unprecedented. The motion was proposed by independent @MauriceSCHP but has gotten cross party support. And it makes total sense. IPAS centres are multi million euro business, they should at the very least, be subject to the same planning rules as everyone else. Kilkenny is the first local authority in Ireland to formally and unanimously call out the controversial exemptions. No more bypassing local input. No more silent deals.
