Oh the irony of finding your post David that points to Christ and not to yourself. Scripture does say that all generations will called her blessed, and you may not have noticed but in almost all depictions (icon, statue or painting) of Mary, she typically points to Jesus. No ‘orthodox’ Christian worships Mary, that honour is for God alone - but she is the ark in which the holy word of God dwelt, and deserves the honour and respect of all us Christians

@gerald_mader @Sachinettiyil I’m sure you’re right. It would be a somewhat odd situation though were the conclave to vote for someone who physically wasn’t present. AFAIK only those eligible to vote will be invited into conclave, or are there ‘retired’ (ie 80+ cardinal) observers?

@clinky @Sachinettiyil He can vote till 80, no restriction by age on election to be pope. Seems to be a common misconception

@RobinWardSSH @jdflynn We still use it at St Margaret’s in Aberdeen and St Salvador’s in Dundee every week (with one or two changes by the non-jurors). Eastward facing full high liturgy - there’s nothing finer (imho of course).

@jdflynn This book exists, The English Missal, which is essentially the Roman rite rendered into traditional English liturgical language. It was dumped by Anglo-Catholics almost universally in the 1970s.

The most interesting trads I know are the ones talking about how a vernacular Mass using an older Missal might have changed the trajectory of most post-conciliar history.

I am curious to understand what you make of the mystical manna that sustained and nourished the Hebrews on their long and perilous journey in the desert as they sojourned for 40 years towards the promised land. That mystical bread sent down from heaven miraculously ceased at the moment of the final Passover the night before Yeshua finally led them across the Jordan and to the great banquet in the eternal land flowing with milk and honey. After all, it was only something they ate and expelled into the loo…

Idk who needs to hear this but Jesus doesn’t need “saving” from satanists trying to step on him because he’s not contained in a cracker made in a factory no matter what someone with bad theology has told you. “Do this in remembrance of me” -Jesus Save it with the “This is my body” verse because you don’t understand it if you think someone does a magic trick to turn something you eat and expel out into the loo into the king of kings.

An official apology to Scotland's Gypsy Traveller community - for historic discrimination - would begin a "healing process" and "bring closure". @DrLConnelly reaches the end of 100 mile walk from Montrose to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh today.

This seemed to be getting a lot of hype on the socials and because I’m contrary and difficult, I didn’t expect to like it. But, I LOVED it. Now, whose parish is @gilescoren going to?

Not strictly true - the 1970 Scottish Liturgy (traditional language) which is what we use at St Margaret’s Aberdeen/St Salvador’s Dundee very much has the Filioque. Interestingly, the 1982 (modern language) Gaelic version still has the Filioque as well, it’s only the modern English language that’s dropped it

The key church councils that defined what Christians believe on many of the most fundamental issues - the big 4 -were conducted mainly under eastern influence with the Latin west as minor players. Yet most western Christians remain curiously incurious about eastern orthodoxy

@phillipsc @thevicarswife Start with the conclusion you want to drive and find/create the ‘evidence’ to prove your point. Not exactly the empirical process, feels more like a McDonalds’ marketing strategy (sorry McDonalds!)

This lazy, offensive typecasting of parishes is appalling. My parish is urban, conservative Anglo-Catholic and we have a diverse congregation that reflects it. Our PCC is equally diverse. How dare they?
