Fine Gael have announced a plan to increase the VAT rate for electricity and gas to 11%. Irish households & businesses are already paying the highest energy rates in Europe. We don't need any further price hikes 👎🏻 Fianna Fáil will fight to reduce costs on households and businesses. @fiannafailparty #GE24

Fantastic news for Dún Laoghaire Harbour today with the decision from An Tánaiste & Minister for Defence @MichealMartinTD that the Irish Naval Service's two new inshore patrol vessels will be based at the harbour. I've been campaigning for a permanent presence at the harbour since I was Cathaoirleach in 2016-17 and this is great news for the harbour and the town. The two new inshore vessels will patrol the Irish Sea freeing up the larger offshore vessels (like the LÉ George Bernard Shaw which is visiting Dún Laoghaire at the moment) to operate off the west coast and the Atlantic. The permanent facility at Dún Laoghaire will generate revenue for the Council and continue the harbour's long association with the Irish Naval Service. 🇮🇪

Another 120 public housing units delivered under #HousingforAll✅ Great to have Minister Darragh O'Brien out in Dún Laoghaire again today, this time to mark the completion of 120 homes at the Crofters, Deansgrange. These homes were developed in partnership with the Council and Co-operative Housing Ireland. They have been allocated to families on the dlr social housing list 👍

Shocking incident, again underlines the need for a dedicated Garda Public Transport unit. Passengers and bus drivers shouldn't have to deal with this type of criminal behaviour. @DermotLeary @SIPTU
RTÉ News at One@RTENewsAtOne

SIPTU has called for transport police on Dublin Bus following an incident on a bus last Friday. As the last passenger was leaving the bus, a group got on the bus and “beat lumps out of him” says SIPTU spokesperson Suzanne Armstrong.
