SCOOP: The White House asked FERC Commissioner Willie Phillips to step aside, he told me today. He will step down effective immediately.
His exit from the commission will allow President Donald Trump to tap a replacement commissioner. More for Pros:

Former FERC Chair under Trump points out what I've often heard as well: Phillips was widely seen as a consensus builder and a moderate. He had support from both sides of the aisle and across the different industries FERC regulates.

@wlpFERC moved a massive LNG project in the face of the Biden administration “pause.” He also was the lone vote for a data center collocation deal that some in the WH strongly support. The issues before @FERC are not clear cut politically. WLP played it straight. Disappointing.

Listened back to this transcript from a DOE press call and Granholm did NOT endorse the Manchin/Barrasso permitting bill. The administration is deliberately not taking a position on it for now. Granholm reiterated general support for permitting reform
