@jukan05 China already has different inference chips manufacturers, that's what its focusing on, while leaving the training to Nvidia. It's just a matter of time they deploy them massively. Between 26/27 there are also some upcoming chip releases focusing on this

Let me kindly explain to NVIDIA fanboys why Chinese open-source AI matters so much to NVIDIA. It’s because the proliferation of Chinese open-source models actually reinforces NVIDIA’s dominance. China is still training its models on NVIDIA GPUs and releasing them in forms optimized for NVIDIA hardware. Naturally, that makes NVIDIA GPUs the most advantageous platform for running inference on those models as well. After all, nobody is trying to run DeepSeek V4 or Kimi K3 inference on TPUs or Trainium. This dynamic helps protect NVIDIA’s moat in the inference market while also benefiting neocloud providers whose inference businesses are built on NVIDIA GPUs. It also gives NVIDIA a way to curb, at least to some extent, hyperscalers’ push toward their own custom ASICs. But what happens if China no longer has to depend on NVIDIA? NVIDIA’s dominance weakens, while the relative competitiveness of TPUs and Trainium grows stronger. It would also be bad news for the neocloud providers that NVIDIA regards as major strategic assets. So no, this isn’t simply about whether NVIDIA gets to sell chips to China or not, lol. If China achieves true compute independence, the ripple effects will be enormous.
Laigt Bringer@Jespabe

@jukan05 Is it bearish for NVIDIA to lose a market where they were already prohibited from selling? Are you still repeating the same FUD nonsense every day?

This is absolutely fascinating. That's the salary level for entry-level workers in Xinjiang right now. We just saw this hiring ad 👇 in front of an ice cream shop in Yining: - 5k to 10k monthly salary ($750 to $1,500) - Free accommodation - Free food Not a bad package, even better than France! The so-called "SMIC" (base salary) in France is roughly $1,500 a month but you obviously don't get free accommodation or food with that, and it's the bunch of people's monthly expenses. And, of course, everything is much cheaper in China than in France. So we're literally at a stage where an entry-level ice cream shop worker in Xinjiang has better purchasing power than a minimum wage worker in France.

SK Hynix closed a bullish hammer candle today following yesterday’s capitulation candle. I think the bottom might be in. The volume is also much higher, which means smart money is entering the market to take shares from panic sellers after the bloodbath. The timeframe of the dip is also pretty aligned with the HKEX opening, which means 7709 also had a big deleveraging event today. So far so good!
3X Long Labubu@labubu_trader

I think today’s volume looks great. We had a capitulation candle today, and I bought four times at 2.045/2/1.9/1.85M. Is this the bottom? Not sure but could be close, the price is great and the risk-reward ratio looks good. I will gradually add more if it dips further. My trimming zone is at KOSPI 8000-8200.

@jukan05 @teortaxesTex Sounds very plausible, Shanghai Hangzhou have many players with big compiler depts working on inference chip design or companies that work on developing inference optimized chips such as 曦望. Furthermore, latest LLMs should make it much easier to develop their own kernels easily

@teortaxesTex What I mean is that they may have built new chip design tools based on their own LLMs.

Some thoughts I’ve been having recently: Could DeepSeek and Zhipu considering their own chips imply that China’s HBM self-sufficiency has already reached a certain level, or is at least on track to get there? Also, is the EDA moat already starting to collapse? OpenAI reportedly completed Jalapeño in just nine months using its own in-house AI chip design tools. Is it really plausible that Chinese labs don’t have something similar? In fact, there are claims that the chip design tools developed by Chinese labs may be even more practical in real-world use than OpenAI’s. The fact that OpenAI is specifically launching GPT-5.6 inference on Cerebras makes me think they may see more demand for ultra-fast inference than people realize. Jensen has described markets like Cerebras as niche, but OpenAI’s move seems to suggest otherwise. Broadcom is a great company, but I think Hock Tan may be downplaying MediaTek too aggressively. He says MediaTek’s TPU has been delayed, but wasn’t Broadcom’s own TPU also delayed in some areas? Amazon’s 20% GPU price increase is not because of memory. It is because of rising demand. I also have doubts about whether Broadcom can continue to defend its high margins. MediaTek’s TPU margin is around 35%, while Broadcom’s is around 65%. Broadcom may be able to maintain high margins for the first couple of years as it wins new customers like Anthropic, but won’t margins eventually trend lower as competition intensifies? Morgan Stanley updated its TPU / AMD GPU shipment estimates, but personally, I do not understand how MS is arriving at this scale for AMD GPU shipments. Morgan Stanley now models AMD shipping 2.4 million GPUs this year and 2.7 million next year.

Just some public market read through from Chinese private VC markets: Institutions are pouring funds into physical AI and world models. 1. Large models / LLMs: ~$23.56B 2. AI infrastructure + technical layer: ~$15.74B 3. Embodied intelligence / physical AI: ~$13.36B 4. AIGC applications: ~$8.79B 5. Autonomous driving + other Top-20 cluster: ~$3.82B, but not apples-to-apples with the above. Some notes: - "Early-stage pure foundation-model funding is basically closed". Looks like more funding is just being put into existing leaders and going into World Model companies. My guess is that we'll likely see the same in the US with Anthorpic/OpenAI consolidation. - "World models have become the biggest consensus in early-stage investment." I said months ago 4D AI/World Models would be the most interesting moving forward, and called out $AEVA as potential exposure. But there's not exactly any pure play exposure. But probably next we'll wait for the next IPOs here in this sector maybe H1 next year. - AIGC application sector is the most mature for AI technology commercialization "Artificial Intelligence Generated Content commercialization is mature but no clear winner yet". Makes sense. in the US there's stuff like Grok Imagine, Google Nano Banana, etc. no clear winner too. especially for video. _ TLDR: Continued funding into AI infrastructure/semiconductor supply chains. Huge capital rotation influx into physical AI / embodied brain / humanoids + world models from capital inflow. Consolidation around leading frontier model companies. Personally just validated what I've been focusing on with Agility Robotics and physical AI players (eg. leaderdrive, harmonic, etc) in public markets... As new potential opportunities in terms of capital rotation. But sadly no world model pure play exposure yet.

KOSPI is in a choppy uptrend as well and just hit the lower boundary of the uprising channel. Lots of the weakness recently is due to the fund flow(the negative narrative is not the root cause): 1. Chinese fund selling to buy CXMT IPO 2. Other foreign funds selling to buy SK Hynix ADR in US 3. KR’s pension funds keeps selling to rebalance. This is an important channel to defend. Let's wait and see.

Thanks, @nikitabier, for making X a better place. @Gubloinvestor what the fuck? Explain yourself, you have over 50k people following you. If you are not a good investor, then MAYBE don’t have others follow you FOR THAT. Copying others for the sake of selling a service must be one of the lowest forms of human behavior. We can all share alpha – but to claim it as your own and sell it without being transparent about the source is something else.
