Almost everything in crypto that failed the first time will eventually work sometime in the future. Bitcoin looked like it had failed many times in the past. The same will happen with NFTs, creator tokens, DAOs, gaming, TCRs, onchain reputation, rebase tokens, decentralized storage etc As time passes each of these ideas will make even more sense. I just think we’re still too early for many of them, and we don’t quite understand the need yet. But eventually it’ll make sense.

One of my core beliefs is that everyone should have the tools available to be a superhuman What does “superhuman” mean? #1: Health at your fingertips. The ability to easily track your nutrition, get nudges on how to tweak it (electrolytes changed my life!), tailored workout plans, etc. #2: Staying connected with friends, but supercharged. Some of the most magical moments in my life have come from texting an old friend I haven’t chatted with in awhile. The intent of the nudge is to make it easier to let someone know you’re thinking of them, ie expanding the surface area for serendipity. #3: “Looksmaxxing” but in an elegant way. So many people would benefit from a stylist - advice on what clothes look good on their body types, suggestions on what styles to wear and when, helpful suggestions around new items to try, and more. Same is true with skincare tips, makeup techniques and recommendations, and more. I say all this from experience. #4: Financials, optimized. This spans so many domains. Automation around when to buy something at full price vs when there’s an upcoming sale, finding good substitutes, suggestions around saving / investing, tax advice (throughout the year, not just in April!), and so on. #5: Personalized entertainment. Spotify DJ is probably my favorite AI product. It’s shown me so much amazing new music. I would love the same for books, online essays, movies, and more. Consuming someone else’s algorithm should be a long gone relic by now. AI gives people more agency over so many surfaces in their life. Products that nudge people to be their healthiest and happiest selves seems like a world worth building for.

Value-accrual strategies are for sure focused on buybackburn, though e.g. @valueverse_ai has the full landscape of what you can do...

Onchain fees fell 33% in Q2, year over year. Value returned to token holders barely moved. That second number is the more interesting one. The decline itself is what a bear market looks like. DEX fees dropped $625M (-57%), led by @MeteoraAG, @Raydium and @PancakeSwap, three protocols that generated $1.5B in fees in H1 last year. Blockchain and MEV fees fell $362M (-40%). Launchpads fell 57%, with @Pumpfun accounting for nearly half of that. Not everything fell, though: Perps and prediction markets grew fees 22% YoY, led by @edgeX_exchange and @HyperliquidX. @Polymarket did close to $100M in Q2 alone. Lending and asset management kept compounding, with @Morpho, @USDai_Official and @maplefinance each adding $9-19M. @CantonNetwork added $179M in L1 fees, though much of that is incentive-driven, and we treat it accordingly. Two of these names, Canton and Polymarket, are new entrants to the fee top 20. And through all of it, distributions to token holders held nearly flat. @binance's burns still account for a meaningful share, but the more telling shift is protocols like Hyperliquid routing revenue into buybacks and burns as deliberate policy. Payout ratios went up in a quarter where revenue fell by a third. Whether that discipline survives a longer bear is one of the things we'll be watching closest into H2.
