Between parasitic behavior driven by the new financial incentives, and the decline in the modal quality of users, this site is losing the qualities that initially compelled my usage.
Increasingly feels like the interaction dynamics of 2016 FB, with less relational familiarity and the addition of users running a distributed version of the same attentionally parasitic games previously run centrally by social media platforms themselves.
These user-level extraction games add to a sense of manipulation by the platform’s own machinations, which remain unmarked by any meaningful move toward continued algorithmic transparency.
The free speech aspect was necessary, but is far from sufficient.

I watched the whole Peterson vs Dawkins debate. Peterson is ropey on politics, but back on his expert subjects here, he did make Dawkins look banal. There is something asinine about going through every part of the Bible saying ‘But did it happen?’ Dawkins also struggled to counter the idea that the whole scientific endeavour is threatened if you don’t have certain moral/spiritual foundations in place (thus universities become anti-scientific and woke etc). In general, Peterson was prepared to step into Dawkins’ world, but not vice versa. Admittedly Peterson’s world is perhaps more esoteric, but Dawkins lives in a totally material plane that does leave a lot out. Peterson explains part of the problem in a pretty funny way at the end of this clip.

Have a friend like this. Parents worth closer to 20M. They live alone in giant house in fla, angry at the world most of the time. Kids are responsible & work hard, not rich. Truly strange phenomenon. Don't have a father so hard to relate, but seems weird to not level up your kids

I suspect the design of school has more to do with the needs of the economy (which requires the parents to be working) than the needs of the kids.
