@barcuit @FinPlanKaluAja1 Thank you for making his point though, then again, why is the comprehension of the English Language difficult for a lot of you? Didn't you do/learn "comprehension" in primaries 4-5 in primary school?

It's economics Individual Boreholes are more expensive than public tap water An individual off-grid solar installation is more expensive than the power grid Private schools are more expensive than public schools The LGA, State should provide the basics, then the middle class can decide if they want to stay with the grid or go off-grid You can't solve the lack of power by asking individuals earning N70,000 a month to buy and install individual solar installations, thats like a French queen asking people without bread to eat cake. Nor can you solve failing public education by encouraging private for-profit schools A government funded by oil should be able to provide at a minimum 1. Clean water to public taps 2. Steady, reliable power supply 3. Free education for all or means-tested free education for the needy 4. Free emergency and primary health care What's the point of executive airports if Children roam the streets during classes and SMEs use generators? Many of you are simply making excuses for the well-funded government. There are sufficient revenues; what is lacking is the people to demand results I have never heard a minister say, “There is no money to buy me a new official SUV”, but once it's time to provide the basics, they hear excuses, and the citizens defend the excuses When I was growing up, oil was not $50, but water flowed from taps, power was predictable, and the FGC were elite. What you tolerate, you can't change

@Born2rule015 It’s a win win, and taking the loan not an issue. But it’s certainly not aid to Nigeria, and that’s all I’ve said.

Nah, this isn’t aid to Africa at all. The UK is backing a loan to Nigeria on the condition that the contracts go to British companies. That means the money goes to UK contractors, who would likely use British staff and services. Those companies (and their employees) pay taxes in the UK. Nigeria then repays the loan with interest at commercial rates, likely funded by Nigerian taxpayers. So this is really about supporting UK businesses, not giving aid. If anyone is going to insist that this is aid giving, then it is Nigeria giving aids to the UK.
BASEDANDBOUGIE@basedandbougie

🚨BREAKING! The 🇬🇧UK plans to lend £746 Million to 🇳🇬Nigeria to help them refurbish their Ports. The consistent aid given to African is getting out of hand! Africa has received more “aid” in the last century than Britain did after the Blitz. The UK received $3.7billion in aid from the US and this was after a BRUTAL WORLD WAR and they used that money wisely to rebuild the UK into the state we see today. Not only that, most of the African politicians are living better than European politicians in 20 bedroom mansions whilst the general Africa public live in poverty …. Where is this aid going ???

@maryam_Jidayi Instead of raising your voice or getting involved in advocacy to compel Customs, NAFDAC and other relevant law enforcement to step up their game in fighting this menace, you're resorting to low IQ whataboutism and regional bigotry! And you're supposedly a lawyer. Sheesh!!!

I am here thinking about how every Nigerian talks about banditry because it kills, which is very good, but ignores counterfeit medicines coming from the SouthEastern part of Nigeria which quietly take more lives every day. The silence around it is a real tragedy. Banditry shocks the headlines, but fake drugs, drinks, and food kill silently in clinics, homes, schools and pharmacies. One crisis is loud, the other is ignored.

He started by fixing power in the state, laying the foundation for real development. He then moved on to improving the road network, making movement and business easier. Now, he’s actively attracting and securing major investments into the state. Meanwhile, Other Governors are hiding behind the uselessness of the Tinubu's Federal Government. States like Delta, Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Kano, Oyo, Ondo infact About 20–25 states earn more from FAAC than Abia. Tinubu is useless,Governors are useless, Senators are useless.

Over 90% of places hit by bandits in Nigeria are communities like this; isolated, underdeveloped, and lack any real security presence. So who should be held responsible; the President, or the local government chairmen whose jurisdictions these communities fall under?

There are three steel plants in Lagos/Ogun This steel contract could have been given to the Nigerian steel firms, guaranteed by the federation, and they would have engaged British Steel to invest in Nigeria or act as technical partners This same steel could still have been imported by Nigerian steel plants if there were capacity and timing issues, but the value and technology would have been captured in Nigeria, not to mention jobs. This is how you grow your homegrown economy. If a certain Lebanese-Nigerian owned a steel plant in Nigeria, would anyone believe that the steel contract would not be awarded to a Nigerian firm? Again, these are steel plants in Lagos / Ogun; if a policy can't favour “Lagos”, then what are we really doing? We mocked imports, now we now embrace imports because it's we we? What about Nigeria? Why is everything about a single individual who has no notable charity project or publicly listed company in Nigeria? Why does he get a pass but other billionaires don't?

Take a close look at this picture. Do you notice how the ministers are following the King and the President? This isn’t just about the dinner, my fellow Nigerians. You’ll see that each minister has a British counterpart, and they’re all engaged in discussions. Do you really think those conversations are meaningless ? Photo Credit: @NGRPresident @otegaogra

I have seen a lot of comments under the Governor's @jidesanwoolu post but it seems many do not understand what's going on but I will explain. Every governor, ministers, businessmen you see there in the United kingdom are there for the country, ask me how! The governors are there to bring investment to their state while the ministers are there based on their ministries to bring investment and sign MOU that will bring development to the country, the businessmen can tap into this agreement to make their businesses get advantages in order to make Nigeria get the best.

There is no way America will leave the war without establishing operational control over the Strait of Hormuz. This operational control can be unilateral or bilateral, but the US will not allow a "toll gate" on the Strait. You can agree or disagree, but that's not the point. If you are planning a strategy on when this war will end, that's your trigger.

@NigBarAssoc No law empowers a lawyer to misbehave in court just because “two truths can coexist.” The NBA should campaign for the discipline of legal practitioners to maintain decorum in court while also calling out judges who abuse their powers.

Nigerian Bar Association
Nigerian Bar Association@NigBarAssoc·
NO JUDGE HAS THE POWER TO ORDER A LAWYER TO KNEEL IN COURT The Nigerian Bar Association is concerned about reports of an incident that occurred on Monday, 16 March 2026, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, involving Honourable Justice Mohammed Umar and a legal practitioner, Mr. Marshall Abubakar, who appeared as lead defence counsel to Mr. Omoyele Sowore @sowore. According to reports, the learned trial judge, in response to counsel raising his voice while addressing the court on the suitability of a hearing date, directed the lawyer to step out of the Bar and kneel down, alongside issuing threats of committal for contempt. The NBA views this development with utmost seriousness, given its implications for the dignity of the legal profession and the sanctity of the courtroom. The courtroom is a temple of justice, governed by law, procedure, and decorum. While judges are vested with the authority to maintain order and discipline in their courts, such authority must be exercised strictly within the bounds of the law and established judicial standards. The power to punish for contempt is well recognised; however, it is circumscribed by defined legal procedures designed to ensure fairness, objectivity, and respect for the rights and dignity of all persons appearing before the court. A judex directing a legal practitioner or indeed any person whatsoever to kneel in court is not a recognised judicial sanction under our laws and does not align with the standards of judicial conduct expected on the Bench. The dignity of the court must be preserved not only in outcome but also in process, and this includes the manner in which judicial authority is exercised. If a judge is of the view that a person has acted in a manner that is contemptuous of the court, the judge MUST follow the accepted way of conducting proceedings for such allegations. We reiterate that legal practitioners bear a corresponding duty to conduct themselves with restraint, professionalism, and respect for the court at all times. While lawyers are entitled, indeed obligated, to advocate firmly and fearlessly on behalf of their clients, such advocacy must always be exercised within the bounds of courtesy and decorum. Disagreements with the court, no matter how strongly felt, must be expressed through proper legal channels and not in a manner that disrupts proceedings or undermines the authority of the court. The legal profession thrives on a delicate but essential balance, one rooted in mutual respect between the Bar and the Bench. This relationship is fundamental to the administration of justice and must be jealously guarded. The NBA calls for calm and restraint on all sides and urges that any grievances arising from courtroom incidents be addressed through appropriate institutional and disciplinary mechanisms. Where necessary, the Association will engage with relevant authorities to ensure that the rule of law, professional standards, and judicial ethics are upheld.
