Grand Junction officer-involved shooting leaves suspect dead after knife call and crash
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — An officer-involved shooting Friday evening at a Dairy Queen in Grand Junction left a suspect dead and sent two additional people to the hospital after a chain of events that included a stabbing and multiple crashes.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department, officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to reports of a man with a knife inside the Dairy Queen at 709 North Avenue. When two officers arrived, they located the suspect inside a vehicle in the parking lot, where the shooting occurred.
Investigators said the suspect then drove away, striking another vehicle while exiting the parking lot and continuing westbound on North Avenue. The vehicle reportedly crashed into several more vehicles near North First Street and North Avenue, causing a truck to roll over.
The suspect was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Mesa County Coroner will determine the cause and manner of death and release the suspect’s identity.
One victim with injuries consistent with a knife assault and another person injured in the vehicle collisions were also transported to a hospital.

NEW: Two skiers save the life of a man who was suffocating under snow after getting stuck at Palisades Tahoe resort in California.
The skiers were seen stopping in the powder before noticing a ski sticking out of the snow.
“For whatever reason we stopped and happen to just see tips of the skis in the whiteout and luckily we did,” said Carson Schmidt.
“Just want it to be a reminder to ski safe and ski with a buddy. Doesn't have to be an avalanche or a tree well to get buried when it's that deep.”
Insane! Good job, boys.
